Who wants to tackle this question...

Whats the gameplan, coach?
Start the same 5 or civilization might collapse

See Nance get abused despite fighting like hell

Bring in Young around 4 to 5 minutes in

See Nance get into foul trouble

Start rotating Young/Williams/MN on the bigs

Pray

"Alright guys, Purdue's no different than anybody else. We're gonna give 'em our best shot and go with Robbie, Pete, Chase and Boo.... Oh and you Simmons, you're starting from now on."

"Now I want you guys to get Robbie the ball. He's gonna jack up a couple 3's to get them rattled..."

"On defense, Pete you need to stop Edey from getting position near the basket... if you can just do that, we can beat these guys!!!!"

"Chase, you have Ivey! Lock him down but whatever you do, don't foul him!"

Everyone can see they have two mammoths inside. Along with an AA caliber dude.

What less obvious is that, because of the mammoths and AA, or in addition to, they have the following 3 pt percentages:
  • Ivey - 40.0%
---------------------------------------
  • Stefanovic - 41.1%
  • Gillis - 45.0%
  • Hunter Jr - 44.4%
  • Thompson - 41.6%
  • Furst - 42.9%
  • Morton - 45.8%
---------------------------------------
  • Team - 40.5%
Screw Edey and Williams, let them score 40 combined if they are hot. You let the other guys open and we are smoked.

And while at it:
  • Don't get Nance in foul trouble like it happened in WL
  • Don't get out rebounded by 12

Get ready to rumble! We got this all day! Watch out for Ryan Young too!
Here's how to beat Purdue

1. Full court press them, all game long.
2. Double team Edey & Williams, & get them in foul trouble, early if possible.
3. Hit more 3s then them, & a higher percentage.

Sometimes seasonal #s can be deceiving. Lately, Purdue has been bad from 3 range & very tired. As of Monday, Purdue played more (15) conference games than any other team. And in total games this season, as many as anybody else. I've been a Purdue fan for over 50 years.

Want to beat them tonight?

1. Full court press them, a LOT/early & often.

2. Double Edey & Williams, early & often.

3. Make more 3s then them.

I like Painter a lot as our coach, but the full court press was our downfall the last two years, & continues to be.

A final sign/portent of things to come. Pregame warmups/shoot a round vs MD., you could see Purdue looked very tired, & their shots weren't going in. If you see that in them in tonight's warm up/shoot a round, RIP Boilers. Yep. '10 deep', but the starters are the MOST tired. Get THEM in foul trouble early, & defeat the weaker second five more easily.

I have a suggestion on how to beat you. Score more points than you

You're overlooking another good plan = hope them to fewer points than we scored.

If we unleash the Nicholbomb on Zach Edey and beat him like a red-headed rented step-donkey, the shock and awe of our third center could demoralize the entire Purdue squad. That, coupled with the thunderous cacophony of delirious NU students seeking free ChickFilA as the Boilers gator arm a multitude of free throws, might enable us to squeak out a 12-point loss.

In the first game against the Boils, we got lanced 80-60.

However, Pete Nance was actually +6 (41-35).
"Nance on the bench" was slaughtered 45-19.
Ty Berry had one of "those" games, helping us get outscored 28-12 when he was out there.
Ryan Young won 12-11 when paired with Nance.
Young got steamrolled 34-14 when paired with Elyjah or Robbie.

Greer and Buie in the backcourt brought a pleasant 23-18 result.
When Greer and Buie were out there with Nance and Young, we beat Purdue 2+0 in 15 seconds of action.
I don't need to point out that this projects to a 480-0 victory over 40 minutes!!!

Hope is not a strategy.

Instead, suggested strategy: Just play Wildcat basketball. Pound that Rock baby.

(Actual strategy: limit three point attempts. And get in their head.)
(Related tactic: Send Boo out there to jump center, just to throw them off.)

Listen closely, everyone is tired now. Notice the shots you miss most when tired, are three pointers (see IL. vs Rutgers, BTN). The teams who can now (successfully) combine their midrange game (15' & in) with an effective low post game, will advance now, & through the coming tournaments.

If you want to beat the ('big') man, you must take it at/to the big man. Best way to get Edey & Williams in early foul trouble, take it right at them, guards, forwards & centers. Often your 3s that were falling in the first half, aren't in the second.

Edey and Williams will be so attacked that at half time they will claim to have diarrhea and not return for the 2nd half

IL. has the best group of guards in the conference. How they doing on 3 shooting tonight? Rutgers has their midrange game going strong tonight. Btw, that opens up the inside/low post & 3 pt. game even more.
