at least according to merriman it is. He tries to say that the 'facts' are those teams are equal. A 3-7 last place team compared to a 7-5 bowl team. Who else thinks that it's a 'fact' that this years USC team is as good as this years Florida team? Just curious on this one yall is why I ask.

2014 UF: (7-5)

Idaho rain/lightening cancelled. (a sure win for UF)

UF 27 - 30 LSU (+3)
UF 20 - 23 SCa in OT (+3)
UF 19 - 24 @ FSU (+5)
UF was -11 combined in those 3 games.

UF was actually an 8-5 Bowl winner and only 14 pts away from being 11-2.

This year, (coaching) the Gators are winning most of those close games....
9-1 UF 28 - 35 @ LSU (+7)
(on a mad-hatter 4th quarter trick play, with UF playing their backup QB)

Note: UF's Defense is currently rated #5 in FBS.
8 Opponents have been held under 28 pts.
7 Opponents have been held to 14 pts or less.
4 Opponents have been held to single digits.
(that's better than the musclecramps last season defense)

As to the offense and/or the overall team goes....

(snicker) :~))

I actually think this year's UF team looks eerily similar to Muschamps 11-1 team. And we all know how that ended.

Yep, 2012 Florida finished at 11-2 with a nine 38 - 0 SHUT-OUT win over Kentucky.... :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I don't know what's worse. The fact that you're bragging about beating Kentucky, or the fact that Louisville embarrassed the same team you so glowingly revere.

No Florida fan that I have met either reveres or dislikes that team. They were a defensive minded squad who won with defense and gritted out victory over several ranked teams that year. The loss to Georgia knocked them out of the Championship game against Notre Dame had they beaten Alabama in the SEC Title Game.

Anybody with eyes saw the offensive inadequacies there but enjoyed that season after Urban's departure and subsequent mediocrity the year prior. Muschamp had no vision on offense and couldn't tutor a QB to save his life. We had no visual offensive weapons but the defense looked great. This year you can see young studs like Taylor and Calloway and Grier was starting to click which is a testament to Mac. Florida is the premiere school in our state as Kentucky is in yours. Recruiting will pick up and I believe you'll see the offense continue to get better and better as long as we don't have a one dimensional QB behind center.

Good luck to you all the rest of the year and I hope you make a bowl. I want to see as many SEC East schools succeed as possible to get the narrative of the West being so much better changed . Hopefully Florida can do our part and not get crushed against Alabama in Atlanta with our sputtering offense under Mr. Harris.
