If OG played a good game they would have walked those dogs!
However all “IF’s” didn’t happen.
Oak Grove did make a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes that ultimately cost them the game, but I don't think you can separate that from the fact that Thomasville has athletes and brought a game plan that put OG in an uncomfortable position all night. You have to tip your hat to them; they deserved the win.
As it stands today, OG will be conference champions in their first year as a full school, a great accomplishment. The joy that the Tville fans have today comes partly from the fact that they beat the conference champs. Your son should be a shoo-in (pun intended) for offensive player of the year in the conference, and there are many other OG players that deserve recognition. I expect them to be even better next year and maybe even make a decent run in the playoffs this year, if they go to the east.
I expect Tville will be better next year, too. They have a very good staff there and the kids have bought in, it appears. It is good to see them on the upswing, and I love seeing a rivalry developing. Unfortunately, the two schools will only be conference foes for the next two years, before OG likely goes 3A and Tville either stays or moves down to 1A. Maybe they can keep it going with an out of conference series.
