I noticed that Ole Miss and Texas A&M both had big wins in the league yesterday.

Texas A&M went to LSU and beat the Tigers 67-64. Ole Miss went to Fayetteville and dominated Arkansas 96-82.

I'm not sure which win is more impressive, but I'm thinking it's the Ole Miss win at AR. I watched much of that game and the Rebels were shooting like they did against the Cats.

On the flip side, LSU had many chances to put that game away but just couldn't get it done. And Arkansas was the only other ranked team in the league, and now they'll be out most likely.

I know we were upset about those 2 games, but it would appear that those 2 teams are actually still playing pretty well.

Absolutely….. I was thinking the same thing. It is a shame that in the national perspective it will only de-value the SEC in general rather than gain value to the perception of those two teams…… Just actually makes it harder for any of the unranked SEC teams to become ranked. The overall disrespect for the SEC is IMO unfair and unjustified.

^^^ Also it makes the target on UK's back even bigger as we are the ONLY chance these other schools have to make a statement and get a quality win.

Arkansas should 100% not be ranked after the pathetic week they just had. You lose at UT (not a good team) and at home by 14? Ole Miss is pretty darn good when hitting like they were at UK and at Ark, but you should make a better game of it playing at home if you are Arkansas.

LSU already has losses to bottom feeder Missouri and a mid-tier A&M team so they won't be ranked anytime soon.

Ole Miss had some bad losses OOC, and is just 11-6 overall, so no way they are close to ranked.

UGA probably has the best claim to be ranked this coming week, as they have some good wins and their two losses in SEC play are to Ark and LSU in close games. That said, not sure 11-5 is going to get it done either to be ranked.

You can scream about unfair and such all day (I agree to an extent), but right now I'm not sure what your argument is for any SEC team other than UK being ranked.

I knew someone would post this and I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Everyone around the country was saying uh oh this Kentucky team might not be as good as we thought because they barely beat 2 teams who are not even on the bubble...well those 2 teams won 2 huge road games against teams considered in the field as of yesterday.

So ya maybe those 2 overtime wins were not so bad after all.

The ot games couldn't have been better , we need experience in that type of pressure and we need to be battle tested . Crushing everybody can lead to complacency and stagnate further development .

Meanwhile, teams like WVU who has beat pretty much nobody (but a now-unranked UConn and Oklahoma who is also about to be unranked), and lost to LSU, are highly ranked and considered so much better than an average SEC team.

Texas A& M and Ole miss especially are teams that are looking real good . Ole miss will be the 5th team in the dance IMO and that is why the win against a good Arky team was so vital . Arky is a lock for the tourney regardless and will still be around the top 30 even with 2 staight losess but Ole miss needed that . It will be Ole miss , USC , UF and A&M fighting for the 5 tourney invite and my money is on Ole Miss as UF is going to lose 2-3 of their next 5 and A&M is a year away and USC is just decent nothing more. But yes UK has played some good teams in conference so far with the exception of Mizzou .

Yep Henry. The fact that those were road games is huge for those teams. I'm starting to think Ole Miss plays better on the road than at home.

I will say this, though, regarding Arkansas: their defense was pure crap against Ole Miss. They know Ole Miss is wanting to shoot threes and they kept leaving them. The other part is that press just wasn't working because Ole Miss has such good guards but they kept it on all night while the Rebels got transition buckets and transition threes while scoring 96. Their defense was terrible with no adjustments.

But Dickie V said those to OT wins were against mediocre talent. Not like the two powerhouses Duke lost to.

Cane, who are the other 3 SEC teams that are getting in ahead of Ole Miss? You sure have a lot of faith in an Arkansas team that OM just throttled on their own home court.
When I look at Ole Miss I see a team that could end up being the 2nd best team in the SEC. They might just be for real.
I don't buy into Georgia, Arkansas or LSU simply because their coaches continue to flounder when they have the chance to succeed.
I trust no SEC coach or team besides Florida and Auburn once Pearl gets his system rolling with some better players.
I think Kennedy is a pretty decent coach, he doesn't get top notch players but he did win the SECT a couple years ago. I think now that M&M light is gone they can get back to playing team ball and whaddya know, it seems to be working.

OleMiss and Georgia are playing their best basketball of the season right now. LSU has been overrated all year, they are average at home and suck on the road. I personally think Alabama will finish higher than LSU. SEC may get five teams in just because the Big10 and ACC may get fewer than normal this year.

Ditto here.

The thing with Ole Miss is if they are on with their shooting they are tough. If they are off they ain't very good.

LSU does not have a coach that I can tell.

It pissed off ESPN that Alabama did not beat UK yesterday.

I don't know if UK will go undefeated, and I don't even know if I want them to as it adds pressure, but there is not a team in the SEC that is even near the same level.

How so? Seems to me ESPN is benefiting hugely from UK's run. They carry alot of or games on their main channel, on ESPN2, ESPNU and the SEC ESPN channel. The longer we stay unbeaten the more national fan interest there is and the more national interest the more people tune in to watch UK on ESPN.

What does that even mean? ESPN is a network, so nothing pisses a thing off. And there are plenty of people at ESPN that like us. Bilas, Katz, Scott Van Pelt all do, and the vast majority of them probably don't like us or hate us. Also, why wouldn't a sports network want to have the unbeaten story continue? Sometimes there are legitimate beefs about ESPN, but oftentimes we make up our own.

The problem with early rankings in college basketball is it doesn't take into account possible injuries, inexperienced players that may develop, etc. The Ole Miss team is sort of Duke junior. If they are hitting 3s, they are tough. Plus their center is pretty good. Much more than what I gave credit.

Idk about Duke JR, but they are better than I thought. The bad OOC losses and overall losses at this point in the season may be too much to overcome. They still have a brutal stretch of games with UGA and FL coming up.

Get off the lectures and listen to the broadcasts. Geeze!

ESPN for most games have a talking board where they pick out themes. They have production meetings to go over stuff. All OOC they have told us the teams that could beat UK were Alabama, LSU, South Carolina and Florida on the road. Yesterday was the first big challenge and UK messed with their promotion to show a UK loss or another close game.

I am tired of folks taking comments out of context. ESPN is great for UK and I never said otherwise. I love ESPN; however, if you are not smart enough to listen to what the heck they say then don't lecture me.
