I'm a Stoops supporter, and want him to succeed. It appears that Mike MacIntyre will end this year as the most successful of the bunch that were being considered. I also believe that Mike Leach would have this team at 8 wins by his 4th year. I do also know that Leach just finished up his first year at Washington State and not sure he was a true option at the time.

IMO Stoops has earned his next year, but do something impressive, beat Tennessee OR Louisville on the road, and don't get THROTTLED both games. That's not to much to ask for, and pretty reasonable considering Tennessee is a dumpster fire, and Virginia and Duke had moral victories against the Cards.

He was in his first year when we hired Stoops.

All other considerations aside, I don't think Leach would jump ship after one season at WSU.
point being: the world knew joker was a bust at least a year earlier than he was let go. so leach was there for the taking.

If we would have moved on joker a year earlier could you imagine the negative press we would have gotten? And if leach would leave job A after
Year one, why wouldn't he done that to us, thus leaving us in the exact situation.

Who cares about the negative backlash. Look at Win At All Costs University 64 miles west. You think they care what anybody thinks about their morality? No! Just win baby and all is forgotten.

I think absent a 2-10 type season, there was no way we could can Joker after 2 years.

you don't want any negative backlash dealing with racial conditions. Espicially with a state and area sterotyped as a basket of deplorable hillbillys. In case you haven't noticed a majority of the players that play college football relate to Joker, and you don't think that would be used in a negative context towards us recruiting. Hell look at what MIZZU went through last year, not times that by ten.

If keeping Joker a 3rd year was a race-based decision, that's as bad as not hiring based on race. Never going to move ahead as a country as long as that type thinking clouds/motivates behaviors.

Firing after two seasons (he did finish 5-7) after going to a bowl his first year would of been a terrible look. All I'm saying. I promise ESPN/fox sports/cbs would of put that into everyone's head. Look at the backlash we got with tubby once we made our move. Now give a coach two years and first time he wasn't successfull by our standards would of been a bad image. Not that I agree, but would of gave us a black eye

You just further confirmed my point: Thinking clouded by race considerations. Just do what you think is right for the situation & let others be race pimps if they choose. PC will be the death of this country. See Shelby Steele:

so you think after year two, made bowl in year one and finished 5-7 was grounds to be fired after losing Randell Cobb off the team before. Without knowing what would happen in retrospect I can't see being able to pull the trigger on that firing. Without knowing what year three would bring it would of not only looked bad by image, but also incoming coaches coming in if you have two years to do your thing.

Now we know Joker didn't work out, but there was no way of knowing that following year two. esp one which was on average with everything we ever done, and losing possible the best player we have had in Kentucky in two decades.

I had a long discussion with one of jokers ex black players and be said that Joker was a bad hire and fired himself out out a job. So there you go.

They're 7-3 and they played well against Alabama, losing by the same margin as UK. Not too shabby..
and also lost to vandy at home. Are 0-2 against power five schools. nothing he has done this year is anything more impressive than what Coach Stoops has done, even with a back up QB.

and talking about the bama games, read the two post games from Saban and see what he said after each and see what that tells you.

But he's done it with lesser talent. You see it one way, I see it another. [cheers]

do you agree he had more talent when taking over?

And he has not beaten anyone. teams he has beaten he has had more talent than, teams we have beat we have had usually alittle less talent, or on par with

Stoops is back regardless, but a couple of WEEKS of negative press has worked out pretty well up the road. Same argument kept us from getting Cal three years earlier.
