Duke will lose some more games. So I guess that means we will have some more newcomers to the board to look forward to.

In all seriousness, the interior was the number one concern for this team coming into the year. Why are we shocked that it is our Achilles heel now?

... there should be room on the team for projects or 3-4 yr players who are longer term (1) BUT those players should be able to give you at least some minutes in their freshman year. If they are a Duke scholarship player, (2) I would hope they have been playing elite level basketball since they were very young so they should be versed in the fundamentals and know what it takes to compete. Granted they dont know the Duke scheme but some of BB is instinct and knowledge like any sport and carries forward from your experience.

What we are witnessing this year with the big man depth is frustrating. (3)We should have 2-3 bench players who can jump onto the court and hold their own for 5 mins...rebound, block out maybe even get a fortuitous bucket on offense...but we dont. To hear Coach K in his presser from the Clemson game talk about no options is startling...its the coaching staff who recruit and plan the rosters so (4) they should take the responsibility for the depth issues...NBA draft entries and all..
A miss or two on a recruit is understandable...no plan B is unacceptable when you get to pick the cream of the crop
(5) Dont read this wrong, Coach K is an amazing coach, person and leader..making the current situation even more perplexing

Ok....that was cathartic!...now i hope we take this loss and dont bring such a lacklustre effort for the remainder of the season.
In order, re: the bold...
1. It would be nice if they could, but "should" has nothing to do with it. Look at the PT Nolan Smith, Brian Zoubek, and Grayson Allen got as freshmen. They're giving us hours and hours in practice that help the team and inform the coaches that they aren't ready for 5 minutes in a game.

2. Yeah, I'd hope they were, too, but not all of them were. Luol Deng, anyone?

3. Again with the "should." We did have 2. Then Amile got hurt. Now we have 1.That's the team we have. Do you think Chase is going to take the exact # of minutes Amile was getting?

4. When haven't they?

5. Don't write it wrong.

At least it was cathartic for you.

When you have an Elton Brand, J Oak, Sheldon, Boozer, Christian or Ferry... you want your next Bigs to come in already prepared for the college game.

I had to come to the reality that what Coach K wants from a post player, another school would do differently, regardless what we may see as fans, coaches, players or parents.

At a Rice, Sean would be the man, and put up 20/12 a game, I really believe that. At Duke he is struggling to learn the system and get meaningful minutes. We've seen Eric Boat, Jamal Boy, Mike G, and Olek Czyz go on and do well. It is what the coach, team and direction of the team ask for. If you are not a dominant, ready for college basketball player, you must adjust to the Duke system and wait your turn.

[QUOTE="jamsession3,

Its really been a sound system implemented by The Master, and G.O.A.T. Jam....Good point!! Unfortunately w/Amile out this year said philosophy has backfired, and perhaps expectations were for Chase and/or Obi to be a tad further along....

Nonetheless as Dukiejay reference yesterday we didnt lose the Clemson game because of interior depth...We just didnt play Duke basketball from the standpoint of frequency of getting to ft line and CONVERTING...

If we can at least keep games close and execute better during Amile's absence perhaps the glaring interior depth issue won't be such a factor...
