If MC makes it to Q's and is at Flyer, i will fly there and back same day for it. Great deals on SW. I was at last one in '95 the 5A semi barnburner.

From the looks of it Swagger High South should have no problem getting to DeKalb. First two rounds are easy for the Flyer.

Additional thoughts - in Round 2, there could be three from SW Conference, but likely only two with Flyer and Redbird still soaring.

I think 7A will be competitive. I said in another thread that this might be my favorite playoff year. Each of the 4 largest classes should be heavily contested.

No one is saying.
This was in the STL post today.

"We're as healthy as we're going to get," Sunkett said. "Injuries are just part of the game. When one kid goes down, the next has to be ready to step up and play. That's something we can't focus on. We've got to focus on the guys we've got. Hopefully, we can get our injured guys back healthy and have them later on down the playoff run."

Kinda sounds like maybe he expects the QB to be out for the first couple of games and then come back later.

I was kinda thinking the same thing - Sunk is being coy with this carefully crafted statement.

He certainly does not mean Jarrell Anderson, sadly.

For sure, Coach knows he can't mess up this boy's Navy career. It will be his parents saying when he can play. I'm confident that is top of mind for everyone, especially considering Sunkett and ESL be named in another (first version tossed) lawsuit by a player from 2008 who lapsed into a coma for two weeks as the result of alleged negligence.

Does this give Libertyville a shot?

Not one person here - even the ESL faithful and alumni - have predicted a Flyer title. One dude even admitted Highland was probably better!!!

Granted, Flyer fans are brutal judges of their own, but then again, no one would be shocked of ESL won.

OK Crusader you baited me in. First Highland is NOT a better team than ESL, They are fine in the lower class they are in. I don't care how many points you score or what the outcome is against common opponents. Head to head is all that matters. As far as prediction will stay away from that for now, The Flyers I am sure only see Libertyville right now. Believe me I know who will win 7A. As most of you. As for the QB if it was up to me I would not play him this week, But that's me The backup will be needed if called upon. Yes we are very brutal when it comes to our Flyers, In the works of Forrest Gump "That's all I am goin to say about that"

I'm not baiting you - it was another ESL faithful who has been around here a little bit who made the statement I referenced about Highland being better than Flyer. A different poster made the transitive correlation between Alton, ESL and West - that was a Tiger fan.

So, since you know who will win 7A, please enlighten me.

Whatever the situation is with the QB, hopefully the parents will make the best choice with respect to his health and future. I saw the lawsuit. On one hand, it's not exactly a shocker. On the other hand, the attorney in the case....let's just say that I'm not surprised by that either. lol

I have a couple of friends that are former Flyers that have also made similar statements about Highland possibly being better than Eastside. That being said, I also have a few friends that are former Flyers that share your opinion and believe that the Flyers are clearly better than Highland. I guess we'll never know, but it IS interesting that THAT conversation even exists! lol I will say this though....there's a lot of doubt about Eastside winning a championship this year, even in 7A.

St. Clair and Madison county attorneys are dirtier than streetwalkers. I've not read the full complaint - opinion on its veracity or viability?

Well.....like everything else, there are good ones and bad ones. The Maag's have quite the reputation for the latter.

I agree crusader 100%. It's funny how the media brings this story back up right as the playoffs are approaching and the QB is out with an injury. Another reason why I think The QB might sit the first two rounds out.

So my impulsive statement came off the brinks of an emotional loss (in my opinion) I witnessed MY Flyers (a buddy of mine will get this) take on Friday night. No, we did not lose on the score board but the lackluster performance was very discouraging with the playoffs nearing. Let's put in in perspective. Highland IS good this year, regardless of class. (Let not play that card, Eside has won and lost to small schools in the past). Strength of schedule does play a part. ESide always plays the best none conference opponents. So we get the nod there. Common opponents doesn't mean a whole lot but there are some intangibles that you can take from each game and that is, offensive and defensive execution. Highland offensive executive has been excellent this year. They are hard to game plan for. ESL defense is good. Always has and always will be. As far as who is the best?? That's for wondering minds to dwell on. Fact of the matter is, we will never know. However, injuries have played a huge part in what should make for an interesting playoff experience for ESL. We are spoiled with the likes of a high powered offensive year in and year out. This year, we lack the fire power that we are accustomed to. So while we won't beat everyone by 50 points, Sunk has the pedigree to out coach his opponents. CRUSADER, im always rolling with MY FLYERS!!! No excuses!! All gas no brakes! We will see GBN in DEKALB!

Remember when you used to post solely as a SHG fan/sandbagger/troll? I miss those days.

Yeah, I miss those days too, but SHG is a ghost of its former self. Really nothing there worth commenting on. Superman, however ........

Highland and ESL in the same discussion? I originally thought you respected the Flyers.

I respect the program. I respect the rich football tradition of ESL. I respect the coaching staff and the grind that is put in week in and week out to coach and mentor these young men of Standard. I live football! I was born and raised a Flyer. I don't just respect them, I am a Flyer! However, I recognize other good teams in the area. Has nothing to do with respect. Not sure if we all watch the game or just read about it in the paper and make generalizations based off history.

I respect the Flyers and their willingness to play up but if Lake Zurich plays like they did with Montini I like their chances to be the 7A champs!
