Thoughts on another stellar UK season opener

I said this all off season. I said if Schlarman is still here our OL will still suck. I said if Mosier and Meadows are the OT's we will suck. Start Young. He will make mistakes but Mosier does not have the foot speed to be an SEC LT. Move Stenberg or GAA to RT. They can't be any worse than Meadows. And no I don't trust the coaches judgments to start the best players.

Multiple shots taken at the OL in this thread about how they would never be able to run the ball behind them. Guess those were some bad takes.

Very happy for the team and coach Stoops, but some of you guys are killing me.

I hope the team continues progressing over the next few years, but they are two plays away from 5 and 7. If Louisville kicks a field goal on their final play instead of fumbling, and if Vanderbilt catches ANY of those 4 passes in the end zone at the end of the game we are in a completely different discussion today.

We finally got lucky.

Although some of your post is certainly true, it wasn't luck that put us in position to kick field goals at Louisville or Miss. St, or to hold off a very good Vandy team. Anyone who looks at the state of the program Joker's last year compared to today should be very excited for the future of this program. Don't forget that it also took Coach Brooks 3 1/2 years to get us to this place.

And if you look the other way, we were one missed catch/interception from beating Georgia. Go Cats!!

They're also two plays from being 9 and 3, if Badet makes that easy catch against GA and there are any number of plays against Southern Miss. But you chose to go the negative route.

Kentucky came a LONG way this year offensively. The offensive line looked pretty bad in the first couple of games. Moving to more of a power running game apparently played to their strengths.

Defensively, the Cats still have a long ways to go. UK allowed 38 points yesterday. Thankfully, U of L had a couple of redzone turnovers. U of L and Tennessee both moved the football with relative ease against UK's "D". We need help on the DL, badly.

We're also a couple plays from 9-3, or even 10-2. Don't let that fact get in the way of your agenda though.

No matter how well you recruit, you cannot give he reigns of uk football to a green coach.

Gran looked composed all night, stoops looked like his usual dumb self.
dckala2, you and other posters like your self need to give it up! Many of we fans have expressed "critical objections" to events & circumstances surrounding decisions/actions by Coach Stoops, however most of us have moved on & now give him the benefit of the doubt!!!!

I have always thought that if you are going to count the close losses as wins, you have to count the close wins as losses.

They ALL could go either way, nobody always wins all the close games all the time.

I'll admit I was wrong. I was read to write off the coaches and the team after the first two games but I'm thrilled they turned it around. I, for one, have no problem with Stoops sideline demeanor. Bill Curry was the epitome of stoicism on the sideline, arms folded, emotionless as we got on our teeth kicked in again and again, so I don't see a "calm" sideline demeanor as meaning squat when it comes to coaching.

LV scored more than 38 seven times. And they won all those.

One senior starter on offense against louisville...7 defense starters only sophmore. Now with a bowl they get 15 extra practices to carry into the next year. If your still having difficulty seeing what it takes to build a football program and how this team is progressing.....leave.

Think it's interesting to see where the fanbase was after that season opener, and where they are now.

Not trying to call anyone out, because I was one of those who thought Stoops needed to go join his brothers in Oklahoma after that Southern Miss debacle.

Once again, big props to Stoops, the coaches, and players.
Can't fault anyone for what they said after that first game. I and quite a few more of us really thought this thing might be over. Like a 3-9 type over season. Boy did these coaches and players turn things completely around!

Give credit where it is due. Stoops and company turned the season around and this win against UL has me on cloud nine. I just hope he finds some stud JUCO defensive linemen ready to start.

people that were being critical or negative after two games weren't wrong. things were messed up bad then. but good coaching turned things around. if you're critical and negative now, you're just not real bright.
