It’s not the PSU team’s fault we’re playing Temple. It’s just a case of bitching when there’s nothing to ***** about.

Roll Tide, beat Chattanooga on November 21.
It's not the team's fault or the coaches' fault- but it is a sham and the fact that lots of teams do it doesn't make it any less of a sham.

Sure, you’re absolutely correct. Yours is the majority opinion, everyone knows it’s a sham. The players do too, they watch the film. Pointing out what everyone knows to be true does what? The players and coaches have a job to do.

Gotta win those for any of the other games to matter.
High school teams get to scrimmage other schools prior to the regular season. With 9 conference games this will be the format. The payday is essential to the victims. So it's win-win.

There are many reasons not to care the way we once did about college football. Sadly all the king's horses and men won't be able to put it back together again

They are paid. We pay to watch. The product they deliver matters cause the romance no longer does. What product sold in the US sucks yet continues to make profit?. On 94 today, admittedly in a non college football town, they questioned the sustainability of such product based on fear of an early loss.
pro football (birds not pitt) is a way better product. Look at the week one heavyweight matchups. It’s unending all season.

Still gotta win them. Did you think Western Michigan was a cupcake? App St. in years past? Or hell Freaking Toledo in 2000? Granted that Toledo team was pretty damn good.

Back in my coaching days, I was only an OJ Simpson, Mike Garrett and Marcus Allen away from being John Mckay.

The advantage Campbell has is being flush with cash money for NIL. o_O . 🚽 That’s how you win championships today.

😞

Saturday was small market vs big market. But among the big market teams PSU is on the smaller side.

Big payday for the little team, easy win for the big team. Win-Win. Case in point, umasshole-rutgres.
Serious question - I know the "small" schools get a payday when they visit a school like Penn State. Does Penn State get any revenue from a game @ Temple? Is there a percentage of the gate? Or is Penn State's revenue limited to the amount of tickets they are given to sell? I guess, the question should be, are they given tickets to sell or must Penn State buy them and then re-sell to make money?

But didn’t big schools beat up on cupcakes back then too? Seems odd to play the “I-used-to-love-CFB” card while complaining about cupcakes on the schedule.
I'm actually bitching about everything related to "college" football, not just scheduling.

But to your point, yes- there have always been cupcakes. But now that coaches are being paid fantastic salaries and players are being paid large ones, don't the fans who are being asked to pay for all that (and more) at least deserve quality games?

There are a ton of products sold in the US that suck yet continue to make a profit (look at fast food for starters).

Temple trivia.
Only once in modern history has a major football conference kicked out one of its members: The former Big East, with Temple, in the early 2000s. At the time, Temple had a horrible football team, playing in front of minuscule crowds. Which makes it truly astonishing that LSU, which demolished Clemson on Saturday in front of 100,000 raucous spectators, would even be up for consideration.

Apparently it is a complete and utter embarrassment to the university and program that we are playing them according to some "fans of Penn State football" that post on this board.
I don’t think it’s an embarrassment to be playing them in general. But it is mind bogglingly stupid that we are playing them away. Temple is a team that should only ever be played at home for a payout game.

Wasting a precious away slot on them is inexcusable.

if we were determined to play a game in Philly then find a P4 opponent and play a one off game there.

I may have missed if this was brought up, but if Temple beats us do we can CMC and woo KCK?

(Yeah it’s a joke.)
