FYI - there are rumors that Granville suffered an injury in practice this week. Nothing official yet - hope it’s nothing serious. This guy has rotten luck.

Need to know basisIs Campbell tight-lipped regarding player injuries?
Thus far he has been far more open than Franklin. Is Campbell tight-lipped regarding player injuries?
My fav Temple guy was John (I'll kill you) Chaney. lolFor me, it's time for some real payback against these bums. Temple's fan base has been one of the worst slanderous towards Penn State than some others. I'll bet they are so proud of alum Bill Cosby.
He was an *ss.My fav Temple guy was John (I'll kill you) Chaney. lol
They drubbed the 242 ranked team. Time will tell though .Miami looks like the #1 team in the country. I don't see any weaknesses.
Hopefully nothing serious and if so then I would hope Campbell is upfront about it. Remember a couple years ago we lost our safety for the year in the first game (forget his name) and Franklin never said a peep about it.FYI - there are rumors that Granville suffered an injury in practice this week. My thoughts:There are a couple of reasons- it's pro football now. Big salaries, big money spent on stadiums, we need
BIG GAMES.
And as we've been told here time and time again, winning 10 games is no accomplishment, only BIG GAMES count.
First road game for the new coaching staff. Lessons to be learned in advance of the upcoming Friday night game at Northwestern.A few storylines to follow:
-Former PSU QB Jaxon Smollick is Temple's starting QB
-Former PSU DT Kaleb Artis either starts or is first DT off bench for Temple
For PSU it's first road game under HCMC. Let's see how they respond
-Will Burkle (TE) and Tatsch (LBer) get some PT as they recover? How about Jeremiah Cooper, more PT?
Does Nick Soriani (Eagles HC) make an appearance on the sidelines to encourage his former MOUNT UNION College teamate, Matt Campbell?
Homecoming for PSU players Cam Smith (St. Joe's Prep) and Jackson Fird (Malvern Prep)
I expect Temple to be a step up in competition from Marshall. I can't get PSU's last visit to the LINC against Temple - disasterous.
Your thoughts?
small gameMy thoughts:
Penn State 52
Temple 0
That’s why I said they have to win the games against those teams. If we go 10-2 that might not be good enough to be the 4th BiG team to make the playoffs.
OSU and Oregon are likely a lock so the question is who are the other two teams? Indiana, USC, Washington, Michigan, and PSU are the most likely candidates for the other two spots. If PSU finishes 10-2 might not be seen as strong as other teams who also finish 10-2 but against a tougher schedule.
Rumor is worst case scenario.Hopefully nothing serious and if so then I would hope Campbell is upfront about it. Remember a couple years ago we lost our safety for the year in the first game (forget his name) and Franklin never said a peep about it.

It will be interesting to see how this staff deals with noon games without a lot of juice. We haven't been a good noon team, going back to Paterno.First road game for the new coaching staff. Lessons to be learned in advance of the upcoming Friday night game at Northwestern.
I would hope that we keep injury info out of opponents hands, "open" is not smart tactically. What was his statement on granville?
If Campbell was more open you would not be coming here for rumors.
Good or bad, I despise "The U".They drubbed the 242 ranked team. Time will tell though .
Yeah well, that prediction sucked LOL.My thoughts:
Penn State 52
Temple 0
postdiction is always saferYeah well, that prediction sucked LOL.
Did you watch any of the PSU vs Temple game today or did you go for a bike ride?I would hope that we keep injury info out of opponents hands, "open" is not smart tactically.
ride- non-ethanol gas is $5.50/gal, but the season is waningDid you watch any of the PSU vs Temple game today or did you go for a bike ride?
Fans spent the last 12 years complaining that info was not more available.I would hope that we keep injury info out of opponents hands, "open" is not smart tactically.
Running QB's can make blitzes look like a really bad idea. So, the Blitz packages really have to be tailored to the tendencies of a particular QB and so on.My thoughts after the game: 1. We're not getting enough pressure on the QB and we're going to have to improve in that area as we get into B1G play. It's looking more and more like we're going to have to blitz in order to generate pressure but of course there are downsides to that. 2. We need to figure out the 2 deep at RB and make sure 1 of them is someone that is not just "consistent" but can break off some runs and add some dynamic plays.
I don't think those position problems are going away. Losing Granville so soon is a kick in the nuts. Moving Bacon was likely an effort to get your best talent on the field. A move you don't make if you are confident in your DEs.Running QB's can make blitzes look like a really bad idea. Something is going on at RB with the rotation, Injuries? Disciplinary? Poor Blocking? I wish I knew. You can make up for the long runs from the backfield with screens and throws to RB's in the flat and make better use of the TE's in the passing game which we haven't seen yet.
The positions of DE and RB are becoming a concern to me when looking down the road to stiffer competition.
Let's give Lynn a minute to scheme for the loss of Granville. That injury and then upcoming game happened too close to change things up.I don't think those position problems are going away. RB issue will quiet down for a week as Buffalo gave up 540 yards to FIU. So everyone will run wild and many will insist we're cured at RB. Hansen is dependable and the best. It's troubling that none of the other RB have earned the trust of the coaching staff after spring, fall and 2 games. We certainly won't learn anything in a game vs Buffalo's defense.
I'm not concerned with the coach or scheme. I'm not convinced he has the talent to get pressure off the edge. When you compensate for that by gaming LB it can leave you vulnerable if they don't get home.Let's give Lynn a minute to scheme for the loss of Granville. That injury and then upcoming game happened too close to change things up.
and I don't think we learn anything from Buffalo.
I think unfortunately we are just short on talent on the DLine. I don't think there are any game changers. I am hopeful we keep improving and we are able to be physical at DT and clog the middle while getting pressure from the edge guys. I think this is a group that will struggle against better competition. Concerned about LB after Rojas, also.Let's give Lynn a minute to scheme for the loss of Granville. We deserved better! How else can we game plan? Thus far he has been far more open than Franklin.
I am only somewhat concerned about LB depth. More concerned about the DT's ability to penetrate and make tackles for loss.I think unfortunately we are just short on talent on the DLine. I think Campbell has been giving info regarding injuries more so than previous head coaches.HIPPA is used as a crutch.

It’s HIPAA jumboI agree, but coaches for a long time have used HIPPA as a crutch.
