HIPPA is used as a crutch.

I am only somewhat concerned about LB depth. More concerned about the DT's ability to penetrate and make tackles for loss.

I get it if the scheme is to have the DT's plug holes and occupy space, but you better be able to bring pressure from other spots as in DE, oh that's a big question mark now too. Or bring it from the LB's Corners or Safety. Scheming for sacks is now more complicated for sure.
My concern is the D-line is just average for a B10 team and the better more physical teams will be able to dominate us. This will look like no penetration from the tackles and weak pass rush overall.

The saying is that games are won in the trenches. We absolutely could not afford Granville going down. He was our best pass rusher.

Both Underwood and Williams are mobile QBs. This line will have their hands full with those two guys. And Maiava will be very difficult to contain without a D-Line that can cause some disruption and knock them off schedule.

I fail to see any advantage in doing that
It's not an advantage. It appears he simply is a bit more forthcoming with the information. He is still not violating HIPPA. When the B1G season begins there will be requirements for reporting player availability each week prior to each game.

Three DTs have yet to play due to camp injuries. Two of those three are to begin receiving reps this week per HCMC. Should help depth so DTs are fresher as the game proceeds. Let's see how this shapes up going forward.
