This is where the Bulls having moved their training facility from Deerfield to the Near West Side hurts the NSC and CSL schools - they used to have first dibs on the "juniors".

Maybe they gave up on selling the South Holland house - which might become the ultimate party house (Marian and any SWC school are you awake)?

There are a few things he should have done.
Not talk about a players basketball ability that is not a student at your school to a reporter.
I understand he is an admissions person and Wade is a big name.
But to talk about an 8th graders basketball ability to a reporter seems bush league and shady to me.

"seems to be a pretty good player. I wish him the best. I hope it's with us,"
Sounds like public recruiting to me.

Doesn't this seem illegal?
Talking about a prospective student's athletic abilities before he is even enrolled?

I personally think they should attend Richards(he was born a Bulldog) and play on the floor DWade built...show them the roots of were it all started. He would be honored to see his dads picture hangin on the walls. and a very welcomed family to our community. and could play for his uncle. I am thinking he is/wanting to be a Bulldog.

ya but he LOVES Ridge Fest. and we know he is going to retire a bull. and then become a Bulldog basketball coach. it has already been written and spoken into the universe just now by me. so it should happen. and believe me, he(son)/they(dad) look better in vegas gold/black/white.
ooh ohya and he knows the teachers, the layout of the school, and where the best parking, etc.

Sounds like you have an axe to grind. Was this quote OK?
"I don't know if the family is coming or not," he said. "They seem very nice. We'd love to have Dwyane Wade's family here, not just because he's a basketball player, but more importantly because they seem like a great family. I really enjoyed meeting the kids. It was two minutes of interaction."

Gabby probably doesnt want to spend 2x on the 1st wife's kid. Hopefully they'll avoid the South Side nouveau riche traps of Burr Ridge/Darien.

Maybe Whitney Young if he's a downtown condo kid and brings his own desk to his classes (that way no one says he bumped a more deserving kid out of a spot).

No axe to grind at all.
That quote is what I would expect the Admissions Director to say about a sibling of a high profile person of interest, not talk about a kids personal basketball skills and what hand he plays with to a reporter.

I'd be surprised if LA is not on the list. It's been the choice of a lot of professional athletes for their kids.

Um, no you cannot say whatever you want to, public or private, get your facts straight.

Are you familiar with the Hales Franciscan situation a few years ago? Doubt it. Gary London thought he could say what he wanted and he got suspended.

The Peoria Journal Star on Saturday quoted London, the school's first-year head coach, as saying: "We recruited [Minnoy] coming out of 8th grade, but he chose at the time to go to Mt. Carmel. We were on his short list, that's why we got consideration . . . "

In regard to Randle, Sunday's Sun-Times reported that London made an "11th-hour appeal" to the 8th-grader and convinced him to enroll at Hales just 10 days before school started.

"If those statements are taken at face value, they are clearly against our bylaws," IHSA Marty Hickman said.

Catholic schools are permitted to recruit students but are not allowed--like any IHSA member school--to recruit for athletic purposes.

Do you really think the IHSA is going to go toe-to-toe with Mt. Carmel about a quote in the Tribune?
