He has the stats. Appears to have a quick release and good ability to scan the field. Bailey Zappe suggests the program can produce NFL QBs.

Maybe we can bring in a Coach with players from a nonpower five team the way Western did with Zappe and some of his teammates probably not to be the OC but quarterback or position Coach especially with NIL money.

Doughty, Mike White and Zappe… I have never understood how WKU got such quality at the QB position the last 10 years.. Reed is certainly worth looking at.

Sign me up for Reed

I’d much prefer someone who’s had success even at lesser competition.

His WKU performance is more impressive. Div 2 football is pretty rinky dink.
I was just putting it out there. I know that it is rinky dink. It was only the 4th year for the school to have a football team though.

For other positions I’d say you are right, but it’s less a factor at QB, because it means he has rinky dink WR getting limited separation from rinky dink CBs, so the same tight window to hit. The same rinky dink OL blocking rinky dink DL so the same amount of time to get rid of the ball.

Just shared this in another thread. This guy probably the better option:

Why is he failing at Clemson when he has all the tools? Is he just not a good fit for the type of offense Clemson likes to run? If i'm picking from the portal, I'm not necessarily picking the guy who had the loftiest High School rankings but just hasn't quite made it at the college level yet for whatever reason and is looking for a new start. That was Joey Gatewood in a nutshell. I'm looking for one of these guys who's had some measure of success at the college level already and still has a couple of years left.

An offensive minded head coach, OC, and position coaches that were good at developing QBs is the reason.

DJUs stats were still pretty good even when "FAILING" at Clemson! Could be huge under the right coach and circumstances.

Reminds me of Rattler. Jury is out on him but similar situation.
