The United States men's and women's national soccer teams will both wear rainbow-colored numbers on their shirts during June friendlies as part of LGBT Pride Month.

I just don't understand why it needs celebrated? What's the point? So you're gay? Who cares?

It needs to be celebrated so the great many closet homosexuals can feel comfortable about coming out and being true to themselves. Instead of marrying the opposite sex, having children, and then feeling empty and miserable....and allowing their homes to become empty and miserable (negatively effecting their children).

I get your point, and that's fine. I tend to take the Morgan Freeman stance on these sorts of things. I think they are more for show than anything. If people want to celebrate them, fine. If people want to do things like make their jersey numbers rainbow colored, fine. I'm not going to fight against it, but I don't think it does anything to help. Anyone opposed to LGBT rights is likely not going to reconsider that stance based on a uniform change by the US National Soccer team, just like anyone unaware of breast cancer or the costs is going to learn more from an NFL player wearing pink cleats in October.

With that logic you should be a spokesperson for conservative gay, trans, black, female or any other group that the left uses for political gain.

But it does help homosexuals to feel less like outcasts, and a little more comfortable about themselves.

Honestly, I could give a **** about political gain. But I would like gay men and women to be gay and gay about it.

Sure you do but you are silent when gay men and women are ostracized for being conservative.
I couldn't care less about what political affiliation a gay man or woman chooses, as long as they are able to be true to themselves.

Why does it need to be accepted? You go do your thing, I'll go do mine, and it is what it is. I'm not going to accept your lifestyle. Deal with it.
Unless you are a closet homosexual, I don't care about your disdain of homosexuality. I do care if homosexuals accept that it's ok to be themselves.

Yup. And I imagine the vast majority of people would agree with me if they're being honest.
I don't think its a mental illness. I think genes may have something to do with it and some of it is by choice. My thought on my question is that I don't see what the need is to bring this issue into the sports arena.
