Three to Compete at Inaugural European Games
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 12, 2015) – Three from the West Virginia University rifle team will compete at the inaugural 2015 European Games, set to open today in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Recent graduate Ziva Dvorsak (Slovenia) and rising redshirt-senior Meelis Kiisk (Estonia), as well as coach Jon Hammond (Great Britain), will shoot for their home countries.
Dvorsak will compete in the women’s 10m air rifle on June 16, as well as the women’s 50m 3 positions on June 19. Kiisk will shoot in the men’s 10m air rifle on June 16, the men’s 50m rifle prone on June 18 and the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions on June 21. Hammond will join Kiisk in the men’s 50m rifle prone competition.
Kiisk and Dvorsak recently shot at consecutive International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cups in May. Most recently, Kiisk shot 1158 and finished 32nd in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions second elimination relay at the ISSF Munich Rifle and Pistol World Cup. He also shot 618.5 in the men’s 10m air rifle and 617.3 in the men’s 50m rifle prone. Dvorsak shot 415.7 and placed 17th in the women’s 10m air rifle second qualification relay at the same competition and 569 in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions.
