I can’t recall 3 victories in a row ever over ranked opponents unless it was back between ‘75- ‘84 . Maybe in regionals or Final 4 times.

I'd be surprised if we ever have... what conference were we in during the 70s? We probably didn't have 3 ranked games in a row to have the chance

I don't think we ever have. I looked back through the college-reference.com page back to 1976, and didn't find three ranked wins in a row. We also beat two in a row in 2001-02, though (#17 UConn, #14 Cuse). The AP only started ranking basketball teams in 1948-49.

Once you get back to the A10 days, there just weren't that many ranked teams on our schedule to play, and they weren't ever grouped three in a row. The first time I found that we even had three ranked teams in a row on our schedule was 2001-02 (L @ #16 Cuse, W vs. #24 Gtown, L vs. #23 Pitt). It happened again in 2007-08 (three losses to #20 Notre Dame, @ #25 Marquette, #15 UConn).

Then in 2008-09 we hit a stretch of five ranked teams in a row, which were all losses (@ #1 UNC, #3 Pitt, @ #2 UConn, #18 Marquette, #11 Cuse... with #9 Louisville two games later). That's probably the roughest stretch in our history, playing the top 3 teams in the country back-to-back-to-back and following it with two more Top 20 schools.

So, the years we even faced 3 ranked teams in a row:
2001-02 (#16 Cuse, #24 GTown, #23 Pitt)
2007-08 (#20 ND, #25 Marquette, #15 UConn)
2008-09 (#1 UNC, #3 Pitt, #2 UConn, #18 Marquette, #11 Cuse)
2011-12 (#23 ND, #2 Cuse, #10 Marquette)
2012-13 (#24 Cincy, #11 Louisville, #20 Gtown)
2013-14 (#23 SMU, #13 Louisville, #22 Memphis)
2021-22 (#13 MSU, #16 OSU, #14 Wisconsin.... then current #13 Illinois, #3 Purdue)

We're in what is probably the second toughest string of games in program history.

You do realize we had some teams which went to post seasons pretty frequently .

So? Other posters looked it up and I was right. We haven't lol

Conference didn't offer the opportunity just like I said too

The vast majority of post season teams don't win 3 games against ranked opponents in a row

I believe WBB beat three top 10 (top 5?) teams in a span of a week/10 days under CVS. I know I was there when they beat #1 LSU.

We were in an ECAC Region in the 1970s when I started following the program. Then towards the end of the 70s, we were in the Eastern 8, which eventually became the A-10. We won the ECAC Championship in 1976 over SJU to get the automatic NCAA bid. In 1979, we won the Eastern 8 conference tournament vs. Pitt (Pittsburgh was the host city too) to get the automatic NCAA bid that year,

I think you’re talking NIT teams in the sixties and early seventies. Don’t think we were playing nationally ranked teams in those days.

When I saw the OP Thread Title I thought it was about a different 3 in a row… blocked shots. But I went back and checked, it was 2 of the last 3 (and 4 of the last 6) osu shots that were blocked. That is incredible, especially in that game situation. Now let’s keep it going and get 3 ranked in a row!!!

Yep, I rolled the tape back another few minutes. We blocked 5 of the last 7 shots. Some games don’t even have 5 blocks in total. To have 5 in the last 3 minutes down 8 to a ranked opponent is incredible!

I doubt it ever happened
Even in our final four run we had an easier path in the tourney
And never remember it in season
