A guy I used to know through work grew up with Frank in Philly. Frank told him he didn't get out of bed for a couple of days after the Orange Bowl.

I can’t even imagine. That guy took some serious shots. Such a different world, compared to the way QB’s are treated today. Not sure running the option was any more dangerous than dropping back to pass then.

The toughest NFL QB in my opinion was Viking Joe Kapp..
He only wore a kickers facemask..

Quite the contrast to the pampered treatment Charlie Ward received in the ‘94 Orange Bowl

He said he'd never been hit like he was in that game. Watching the video in the OP, he's clearly one tough SOB

I’ve always hated Miami but Costa was a warrior in that game. Definitely one of our greatest games ever played!

Talk about stacked rosters on both teams! Even when we had the lead it wasn’t over. Huge sigh of relief when Kareem Moss intercepted Frank Costa’s desperation pass!

Always respected Costa for his toughness, Miami is probably the one team I dislike the most.

I was always impressed with how tough Zach Taylor was. He got hit so damn hard all year long but kept getting up. Sorry for the change of subject.

You know what's really funny? not only did our OL manhandle and beat down Sapp, but they also beat down a line mate of his by the name of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. LOL

We didn't manhandle or beat down Miami that game.

Our Huskers played their asses off and outlasted the 'Canes.

The loss in '93 to Florida State drove that team, and they weren't giving it up to nobody.

That was a bad *** Miami defense. Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis, Future hall of famers.

I'd rewatch it. Our defense won us that game. Our OL really struggled vs Sapp until the last two drives. Defense got us good field position. Couple of nice option plays, couple of good LP runs, and then the two TDs. I think Miami scored first drive 2h to get to 17 and then did nothing afterwards.

Think about it, TO called a pass on first and goal from inside the 5 in the second half, which was picked. If our OL was winning that battle, we never would have passed there.

Sapp killed us that game up and down the field.

You may remember his gassing on the sidelines and all that kind of ****, but he kicked our ***.

We outlasted Miami because that team played 4 quarters.

I still can't recall a game in which the players gave it their all.

Multiple players were on their knees when that game ended. They gave it everything they had.
