Maui Invitational, Iowa St. vs Illinois and THT is really putting it on the Illini. I'm enjoying it. Ayo also a solid player, but THT is having a monster game. Still can't believe we missed out on that young man.

Illinois must have felt worse, since they missed out on him as well and actually had to "play" him (and I use the term play loosely, since they basically watched him dunk and dish to others for dunks).

Thought they actually played a decent first half, but giving up 50 pts in the half that counts? Oof.

not sure that people get what a physical freak THT is

powerful build, nice speed and jumping ability....but he has a 7' 5" wingspan....he's 6' 5" and guards two guards and wings...you literally cannot shoot over this guy...difficult to pass against....and he's stronger than 99% of the guys he guards

He's one and done

Yeah, was really bummed when we didn’t land him. He’s already gone for 26 twice in his first five collegiate games. He’s going to be a force in the Big 12 this year. Hoping to get up to Ames (about 35 minutes north of me) for a Cyclone game this year.

What a stat line today:

26 points
14 boards
6 assists
3 blocks

He's a player.

It will probably be a while before Ayo again dictates who plays for Illinois and who doesn't.

I think a huge piece of it was his wanting to go away for school...and NU just wasn't far enough away.

Keep in mind that Horton-Tucker is only 17 years old. He's gonna be a great player.

All reports were the kid was set for Illinois until Ayo’s very influential AAU coach pulled a power play. Underwood caved and set a precedent that will be hard to reverse.

THT went 1-11 from the field today in a 30 point win over San Diego State. He had 4 points, 7 boards, 5 assists and 2 steals.

Freshmen have games like this.....

He reminds me of Charles Barkley.

talking to an insider - NU has a long way to go for CPS kids. lots of factors. history. style. environment. etc...

* CPS coaches are a close knit fraternity and think about it.....the number of their D1 kids who couldn't get into NU is far more numerous than those who could. They look at an Illinois or Iowa and know that their kids can get in;
* NU isn't going to change it's admissions standards...it's not going to become Duke;
* Been watching this for more than 40 years....the celebrity of Chris and Doug Collins is the best chance yet;
* It's really just a couple schools....Morgan Park....Whitney Young....good academics and good bball programs;
* I wonder how much the concern is a historic carryover....I'm not sure with how the game has developed that recruiting CPS has the same aura....NU recruits nationally and now seems to get a lot of 4* players....I have to believe if the team can win Collins has shown he's capable of upping that performance.

Thinking that Nu should be like Duke, in every way.

In every way? Lower graduation rate? Terrible facilities? Not win the B1G West? Small, old basketball arena? Genteel attitude of white supremacy across the Greek system?

The grass isn’t always greener...

Agree with all but the arena. Cameron has got to be one of the 2 or 3 best home court advantages. Hope someday soon WRA will be the same.

Dislike Duke.
