Dan Jenkins said a long time ago...""Only two things can stop Tiger — injury or a bad marriage."

The injury portion is absolutely real. Everyone knew he was gonna have to change his early swing to get rid of the knee snap. When he successfully rebuilt the swing and went on a tear again, maybe he mistakenly got it in his mind that he can tinker and rebuild at any time. Obviously wasn't the case. I'm not as quick as Cawood to dismiss the PED possibility but I also don't think it would've been a major contributing factor to his breakdown. Constantly changing his swing and compensating for other injuries was a factor.

I don't think the bad marriage part was actually as important as Tiger losing his dad. For all his fame, Tiger is an awkward dude who doesn't seem to have a strong circle of people around him. His dad was that rock and it's been a revolving door around him for a while (coaches/swing guys/******...).

After that, he seemed to be forced to grow up and gain other priorities. When he was 25 he lived golf and was maniacally driven (as are many in their young careers). Now, he has all the money/fame he could ever want and he obviously places a very high importance on time with his kids. Yes, he will put in the time practicing but if a medium-high level tourney doesn't work for his kids schedule he isn't making it a priority. That's not a bad thing... just a new reality.

Classy, DSmith.
Got any N bombs for us? Just as offensive.
Mods: Please ban.
Dude you just don't understand his humor. It's funny, see I said the word limp. Like his penis is now limp like his golf game. Because he cheated on his wife and that caused his game to go limp. ***insert cheesy movie quote that doesn't translate to a message board***

Notah Begay said Tiger is scheduled to play 7 of the next 11 weeks. So this stretch may remake him or break him.

I'd bet $100 bucks that he doesn't make it without injury but if there is one thing he needs to do it's play a heavier schedule. Can't play 3-4 times in 4 months and expect to compete on tour. Tiger Woods or not.

Why do these guys get in relationships? And she's just ok for what he could get every week in my book.

There's nothing "just ok" about that girl. They're dudes, mostly young and dumb. Still though, I think they're allowed to date people.

Tigers main problems are arrogance, he gets easily bored, and is never satisfied. Nothing else explains why he repeatedly cheated on Elin Nordegrin (why?) and feels compelled to change his golf swing every so often.

If you're Tiger Woods, why do you change your golf swing, which in turns takes away from time spent keeping your short game fine tuned?

Tiger is no longer familiar with his own golf swing, and has lost his short game to boot.

Tiger hasn't won a major since 2008....that's SEVEN YEARS! He has been behind Jack by 4 wins ever since then. It's been sad to see him slump so much from how high he was.

The Tour is a grind...I'm sure it's nice having someone to come home to/count on during that.

Always cracks me up how people think celebrities should just live the single/bachelor life forever, and if they don't, they're "stupid". That **** gets old at a certain point for anyone, celebrities included.

That girl is world class relationship gorgeous. Ricky's girl is world class fling material. Big difference.
Rack BBdk's last post. Not everyone is Jeter or Clooney, and both of those guys have settled down.

Read Haney's book The Big Miss and it will give you reasons why Tiger changed swings. Sounds like he even had the driver yips back then and now with at minimum driver anxiety and chipping woes its all become mental.

I want to see him play but when he took that break earlier this year i thought it may be good to just get away for an entire year.

The hope of Jack is GONE. Go away and come back and break a very important record in Snead's pga tour wins mark.

I've never understood this argument. It seems to be me Tiger had to put in a significant amount of golf swings attempting to groove his new swing(s), as opposed to keeping in old swing. Nicklaus has said you should spend 75% of your time on your short game and 25% on your long game. Tiger hasn't been doing that for a long time IMO, which puts more stress on his body.

His left knee is toast. He had to change his swing with Foley because of that. Now, why he went away from the Butch swing and bulked up like he did? I've got nothing.

Some of the change was to have a new motivation to get to the range everyday and bust *** on something new, another challenge. May sound strange and stupid but apparently Tiger needed that daily motivation to work and get better. Burn out possibly or have something new to work on? To us it's strange to him it's what he felt he needed.

Now, i think swing changes are his excuse for when he doesn't play well. The guy is so mentally touched he needs an excuse, an out for when he doesn't live up to the MASSIVE expectations we put on him. So, there are times when i buy his swing changes excuses but not now. It's a deep mental yip issue he's dealing with, imo.

That's why i say go Butch, go Stevie and go Bob Rotella. All 3 would bring back a level of confidence in himself and game to compete at the highest level again. You cannot get confidence from Chris Como a 30 something who can't even break par.

Fourteen majors is an incredible accomplishment. But Tiger's 142 tournament cut streak always impressed me the most. Tiger wasn't playing the John Deere Classic fields either. He was playing some difficult courses with the best fields. That said, many of his competitors come Sunday were not as talented as what Jack faced.

And Jack was very close (19 runners up in majors) from this not even being a discussion. If he had turned 6 of those into wins, the 25 major mark would for certain never be topped. 19 might not be.

Saw where Tony Finau was mentioned. Love his game. Finau and Brooks Koepka are real dark horses to watch at the U.S. Open this year.

BECAUSE IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN
I thought you were better than following all those people who say it won't happen. I give it a chance because dude is so touching low right now in his game, he may have no option AND Butch said he would talk with him recently, which was big, imo.

Now, its come to your senses and quit being a douchebag and make one phone call. Game better soon.

Both of these guys are douchebags (Feinstein and Chamblee) but both are 100% spot on.

Chamblee, however, feels as though he's seen enough.

“Well he’s been at this for about eight months with Chris Como. I think that’s plenty of time," he said. "He’s had eight months to move off of the ball and stay taller and do all of these things that seem pretty simple, and he really hasn’t done it. …

“Eight months is too long. I believe if he actually called Butch or Hank Haney, either one of them, that within a month or two they’d have him back playing some solid golf. I really do believe that.”

Ben Hogan didn't need Butch, Haney, Foley, or Cumo. He just went to range a lot with a bag of golf balls.

Not a fan of Feinstein's hatred of Kentucky, but he is a great golf writer. Harmon would indeed help Tiger and I do think in time it could happen.

I have always wondered what losing his father in 2006 did to his psyche and off the course discipline. Tiger, incredibly, seems like an insecure person at times and at times seems like a bulldog that indeed does grind and destroys his opponent. Maybe his personality goes with whichever the way the pendulum is swinging.

What makes this baffling for me is i think he was -3 with 9 holes to go on Friday, and to be honest i thought he left a couple out there on that front 9. The lead was -12, had he shot -2 he could have been within 4 shots of 2nd place. So, i know his game is a mess but the good play has been good in between the nightmare big number holes. He had a finishing 9 on Thursday and a beginning 9 on Friday that was a 66.

Yep, and he looked good for 3/4 of the Masters and showed some signs at the Players but consistency comes from being out there playing every week. You can't go out and compete playing almost none in 14 and 3 full tournaments this year. I think that makes 7 Thur-Sun rounds in the past 18 months. I don't care if your Ben Hogan, Jack, Arnie or Old Tom... that's not going to cut it out there.

The only thing that will help his confidence is hitting lots of good shots so he can start to trust his swing. Only way to do that is play tournament golf and lots of it.

Yesterday:
"[Caddie] Joey [LaCava] keeps telling me, this past week, he kept reminding me, 'Man, take it easy on yourself, you haven't played that much golf,"' Woods said. "'You never played last year, and you haven't played that much this year. You've been playing at home, but you haven't played tournament golf. Just take it easy, it'll come around. Tournament golf takes time.'

"I hate to say it when he's right because as a player you always want to be right, but he's right."

Was never a Tiger fan but really surprised how he has fallen off lately. He has an occasional good showing but not really a threat to the field like he used to be IMO. I think Jack won his last major at 46, so there is still a lot of golf left for him.

But Jack only won 3 after he was 40 and two of those were in 1980 when he was 40. Only one after 1980 and that was the great 1986 Masters.

Edit: And Tiger will be 40 in December.
