I like Miles and I was excited about finally landing 4-star players like Morrow and Watson. But this isn't working out and isn't going to work out. Time to move on

Ya, well, um, you know, I'm speechless. I'm all N for change, let someone else have a chance with this roster.

Honestly felt like the best is to give him next season but today showed me a roster that doesn't respect their coaches.
I really think this pins the tail on the donkey. I was trying to figure out what in the hell I was watching and what is wrong with this team. But I think this nails it. This team does not respect its coaches. And it shows

I have said from the get go that Miles coaches Nebraska like he coached at small time school. Trying to keep it close and win at the end.

McDermott made the same mistake when he went from UNI to Iowa St. When Creighton joined the Big East, he started recruiting and looking for transfers that would upgrade the talent needed to compete in that Big Boy league. He has a recruit friendly offense and sells it. The same cannot be said of Miles.

And his system also appeals to transfers looking for a 2nd chance. Our transfers seem to not finish their eligibility.

Our offense has been terrible since Craig Smith left for South Dakota, I really believe he was the brains behind the operation and it has been all downhill since he left.

So AWIII respected Coach Miles? Or didn't disrespect him enough to want stay?

Like you said, what you believe is false. Not what you know.

There are 3 key reasons why AWIII left. The second greatest reason of the three was because AWIII had little respect for Miles.

Next month, they'll be 18 key reasons, and the "second greatest" will still be wrong.

Our offense has been terrible because we're shooting under 30% from 3 and it allows our opposition to double and triple Ed and Tshminga the second a ball goes in to them. Today one of our 80% free throw shooters went 1/6. We started the game 2/13 from 3 and roughly 50% from the line as a team. I really don't think Smith was going to make those kid's shots go in today. We're pressing big time.

Oh my.. I can't decide whether I should be laughing...or grimacing. It was a chuckle, then a grimace.

We knew he couldn't coach offense to save his ***, but this looks like the ineptitude has also infected the defense.

There's a reason BTN didn't schedule any saturday home games in lincoln...people all across america would rather go watch paint dry than watch Nebraska.

What is it with the Osborne hires getting upset with the fans when their product sucks?

I won't, it's garbage.
AWIII would still be here if Miles would've handled a certain situation better. Because he didn't, AWIII lost respect towards Miles.

Nope. Will always and forever be the main 3 with the 2nd still and forever being correct.

Since you seems to know the answer (which you don't (you may think you do)), what is/are the main reason(s).

I don't see how it is possible for anybody to be a worse shooting team than Nebraska. Just plain awful. I really believe there are 50 kids in the state of Nebraska alone that could outshoot this entire team.

We're 308th in the country in field goal percentage and we're 319th in 3 pt shooting. Big time struggle from kids that I think can shoot the ball. McVeigh and Jacobsen's struggles are a big part of that.

I want Miles to succeed but comments like these are really dumb. If you put an entertaining product on the floor, people will go watch win or lose. The product has been boring outside of the one hotstreak for most of his tenure.

I see a Gardner-Webb or Incarnate Word on the schedule, I immediately become disinterested because who the hell are these teams? It's like you don't want people to come with these types of games. You should win easily and at least have a few good highlights. But then to lose these games? That's inexcusable and fireable offenses imo. If you can't manage a team well enough to beat those types of teams after you've been here several years, well you probably shouldn't be in charge much longer.

I want Miles to succeed but it should take a big turnaround to warrant another year. These are embarrassing losses. Somehow managed to piss away a new arena and not take the program to the next level and instead are still losing to teams the caliber of Gardner-Webb. Disaster.

This husker team is hardly worth venturing out in subzero temps and ice covered roads to watch.
I wish I was a several hours closer because I sure as hell would have. I think you just gave the definition of "fair weather fans".

Who would you guys want to hire to replace Miles? Would you want to make a run at McDermott or would his stop at ISU deter enthusiasm about that? $2m/year offer should get you a top mid-major coach, but that's always risky. Would you want to go after someone who's won at a high-major but got canned after stagnating? High-major assistant at a consistent program?

The next guy would win when Miles's guys are juniors and seniors just like Miles would. Then the next guy would get a big new contract and resume sucking just like every other coach we've had for the last 20 years. May as well wait and see what Miles can do with these kids when they finally grow some hair.

Why would McDermott ever leave? He has a program on cruise control, and can work there forever most likely.

I almost started a thread on this.

IF. IF, Eichorst were to make a move, my first hope would be that the Bulls decide to go in another direction and cut Hoiberg lose. I'm sure him coming here would be a pipe dream, but he was born in Lincoln, and his Grandfather was Nebraska's coach at one point. Got to at least make the call to his agent. He largely used transfers to get ISU to the level he did. That's something Nebraska must do too.

Same reason he left UNI (cash/ego). Though his situation at CU is obviously much different since they joined the new Big East and his program doesn't necessarily need to make a conference tourney run for a bid. I don't think it's realistic either, I was just wondering if Husker fans would be interested in him.

Tim Miles makes $630,000 more than Greg McDermott in base salary.

Creighton was very fortunate to win by one vs a horrible Oral Roberts team last night at hope. Let's not sink to comparing ourselves to little brother. No one here would want McDermott as our coach. Time to sell out for someone with deep AAU ties

Hate to break this to you. But Nebraska has done nothing to prove they are the big brother here.

I wouldn't like that (Hawkeye here). You'd be dumb not to try though. If he's out with the pros, he could almost write his contract to return to ISU. Hoiberg was really good at convincing transfers to move to Ames and I think Lincoln would be an easier sell.

"Finally grow some hair." Will that be the excuse next year? Sooner or later you may realize Miles is part of the issue. Probably not though.

I'm a Husker fan first, then a Tim Miles fan. I know that we've gotten some kids we wouldn't have without him and I would like to see what he can do with them when they are Juniors and Seniors. I'm hoping that we start making some shots and turn this ship around because I really do think we have some good talent but for whatever reason we're in a horrible shooting slump.

That's why I'm hoping ISU kicks some *** and makes it as hard as possible to make a change, even for him.
