Time for a QB change.

I know the wide receivers had a lot drops today, but we are handicapped offensively in this scheme without an accurate QB. Unfortunately it won't happen this year. POB, put your big boy pants on.

I actually thought about that, but then I asked myself, "Do we even have a capable D-I QB behind Armstrong?"

Thanks Bo.

Recruiting and teaching proper mechanics is still on the coaches. Honestly, the QB should already have decent throwing mechanics before he takes his first snap at the college level and, quite frankly, before we even consider recruiting him.

Im going to say this now, either O'Brien or possibly Gebbia will make or break coach Riley here. One of these 2 guys will save and make Riley or they will kill his career off here.

Hell why not try Darlington? Hes a son of a coach, seems to have the football smarts and from what i seen has the accuracy to with it. Give him a shot.
Looked to be the the most accurate in the Spring game but for some reason is buried at the end of the depth chart. Hell put him in!!!

I believe Darlington is just a practice body due to his concussions suffered in high school.

I don't think it really takes a genius to see that, but then consider the implications of that statement. We're talking about a point 2-3 years from now when those kids get on campus and take meaningful snaps.

You have people asking if the staff is going to survive the year intact.

Kinda what im getting at, theres just no way in hell we can the coach in year one. I believe he gets at least till his golden arm qb makes or breaks him. Even then, it will defently be on Riley then because there will no excuses to hand out then with a true QB running his system.

If POB was smart he would reconsider his commitment.
No he wouldn't. He has a chance to come in an play right away in a system that should fit him well and a staff that has developed QBs in the past. Unfortunately for him he will have a lot of pressure to put up points because Banker will still be on the Nebraska sidelines.

Riley and Langsdorf keeping banging their heads against the wall. Tommy is not a drop back quarterback. How come you guys don't say anything about calling pass plays on 3rd and 3 and 3rd and 4 all the time? Calling three pass plays in row? on and on? I think they like to punt. Get POB in here. It will be the same thing. This is who Riley is. A loser!!!

If he gives zero funks about winning, he'll come here. If he's trying to make the league as a second day pick, he'll come here. Other than that, why would a player commit to this staff?

Imagine what Langdork would do with a QB that could actually play? We'd run the ball once a game..

while certainly not all on TA -- he is at the position that WTF plays impact the game more than any

He just isn't a very good D-1 QB ...... he has stretches where he plays fine and then makes a game killing mistake

he is like a puppy that you think you finally have trained to do their business outside and then looks you straight in the eyes and takes a dump all over the carpet

Tommy will be our starter next year. With his experience and another year under Riley, he could be a nightmare for opposing D's next year. POB will be the man in 2017. If Gebbia becomes a Husker it will be interesting to see how things shake out in 2018 & beyond.

3rd and inches and he would have it chucked 25 yards downfield..

Unfortunately with Tommy, one minute you're having a wet dream and the next minute it turns into a nightmare.

O'Brien will start next season.....hopefully from day one. That will be a tough pill to swallow, so maybe if you let a backup get some snaps the rest of the season, it will lessen the blow of the demotion.

Why? He's coming in January. He probably thinks he can beat out Armstrong, and he just might, because he has the skill set Riley and Langsdorf want.

The skill set of being able to hit the broad side of a barn from 5 yards away, like our current QB cannot??

A true freshman will not start over a senior QB with the experience Tommy has. POB will have his day in the sun!

Exactly, which is why he needs to slowly lay the groundwork now, by working another QB into the rotation. That will soften the blow for everyone. It has to suck coaching while walking on eggshells around Bo's leftover malcontents.

Experience only gets you so far. He simply does not have the skill set to get the job done. If I was Riley, I would sit Tommy down after the last game of the year and thank him for his heart. I would then give him the option of transferring or being a backup next year...a backup without attitude. This puts the ball in Tommy's court. It is the respectful thing to do, because he will not QB the team next year, unless O'Brien decommits.

He makes several high school mistakes every game and has zero touch to throw a pass under 40 yards. That is why they throw 50 yard bombs on 4th and 6, because it is a higher percentage pass for Tommy than a screen or slant. That is not magically going to change in his 4th year as a starter.

Oh, and for the record I think replacing Armstrong is a terrible idea. Just the worst idea ever for a fragile team.

You can't put O'brien down as a starter before he even steps on campus. What makes all the the O'brien lovers think he is the answer. I have seen way too many overhyped freshmen qb in my day. The list goes on and on. Until he plays a snap in Division 1 football you can't pencil the kid in has a starter

We cannot win with Tommy. We won with Ameer the last couple years, not Tommy. O'Brien has a skill set that Tommy simply does not have.

So not even a year under Riley and you're saying he won't improve his decision making/accuracy by next year? I think POB will be great in time but he won't be as good as Tommy in 2016. POB won't have several years of division 1 starts under his belt either.
