Thomasville 1995 had the ability to shut down teams. Couple of big time linebackers (NC State and UNC if I remember correctly). Unreal Ricky Smith did not work out in college. Very athletic and fast to the ball. Big on both lines. They just grinded teams.

91 Tville wasn't too bad either. Only had one loss in a classic game :)
Two point win. I remember some Thomasville coaches telling me the officials missed the ball carrier stepping out of bounds on a TD. Not sure if that is correct (30 plus years ago). ND was undefeated that year until Concord got them in the playoffs. (Concord was stacked but were not prepared for Kannapolis after beating them in the regular season.)

One point. 14-13, I have a picture of the scoreboard. Carolinapreps also has the 1992 score between ND and Lexington backwards because ND and Tville played two years in a row undefeated for conference.

91 Tville had 7 shutouts compared to 95 having 8 but the offense was better according to scores, if only a few. They killed everyone but ND. 95 Tville though, you were lucky to score let alone win. So it's about picking your poison basically lol. Its also splitting hairs because Tville beat you with defense and pounding the ball on O. At least until Benji took over. Then there was some finesse and spread to the pounding lmao.

About forgot about Maiden defeating Thomasville in ‘92 in the Western Finals 21-0. Antione Ikard broke Tyrone Westmoreland rushing record. Maiden would advance to 2A State Finals.
Ikard definitely put on a show. Thomasville had defeated Reidsville, North Davidson, Mount Airy and Forest Hills that year to end up 13-1, but we had nothing for Ikard.

I remember him running right through the LB that went to NC State. They just could not stop him.

Maiden had a fumble that really hurt them versus West Brunswick. WB went onto win the 3A the next season.

I remember watching Friday night football highlights and it was showing Maiden against Newton Conover. And Antoine plowed over a Newton player and knocked the player on his can right before he went into the end zone for TD.
