I worked for the Navy in 1989 and am here to tell you the Navy brass was livid about her coming out in that costume. Not that they were prudes, but even before Tailhook in 1991 the Navy was trying to clean up their reputation as drunken whoremongers and be more attractive to female sailors. They didn't need someone strutting around in dental floss on their battleship, then releasing a video of it.
