Now that we are out of the NIT, anyone on here care to speculate when Miles will be fired? My hunch is that it will take a while if no new coach has yet been lined up. I think Moos will want to announce the firing of Miles and new hire at the same time.

So... if Moos already has his new guy in the fold the announcement could come very soon.

Thoughts?

I think the job has to posted st least a week doesn’t it. If he fires him today it may be the middle of next week before a new one is hired.

As an outsider, I think Miles stays. Lot's of bad luck this year, and he's a pretty damned good coach.

OK, and what about the last 6 years, 4 of which were losing seasons? Was that bad luck? 15 years as a D-I head coach and zero NCAA tournament wins, and only 2 NCAA appearances? Bad luck?

I hope he has success in his next job, but the last 7 years has been some of the most incompetent basketball I've seen on the offensive side of the ball. It's time to move on.

No doubt that if Hoiberg is the coach, it will be announced either before or after Michigan states game/s. I’m not sure on the legality if it has to be posted for so long. I’m guessing by tomorrow Miles will be let go and depending on rules Hoiberg will be announced either Thursday or early next week

i'd be really surprised if Miles doesn't know soon after stepping off plane. i think they both have enough respect for each other that Moos is not gonna leave him and the staff hanging.

I would expect an announcement today on an announcement date/time.

I don't speculate on people stuff but I think it would be really bad form to fire and hire in the same conference. Show lack of respect for both coaches.

Fire and thank coach Mikes, give him his time, let things settle in, talk to players, etc. A few days later, when the ink is dry and all is in place, make the formal announcement if there is one. Now put the spotlight on the new person and the program.

Frost was announced exactly 1 week after Riley was let go. I think the announcement was delayed because UCF was still involved in their conference championship game. Either way, there didn't appear to be a waiting period.
Thanks for this. I was about to post that Moos waited a week to hire Frost, so maybe a delay is mandated by law, but now you have reminded us that there was a different reason for the delay. And if memory serves there are numerous examples, are there not, of AD's firing a coach and announcing the new one right away?? Or am I just making **** up? I am old after all.

I don’t expect the announcement of the Firing and and Hiring all in the same day... None of us do but unless it is required by the university to post the job I could see him being hired on Thursday...

Miles and his staff have known for a while. That's been obvious from their post game comments. It's just a matter of making formal announcements.

Not a shot at you, just at the idea that a coaching hire has to follow some University rule. Dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Bill Moos: "Hoiberg's in and we are ready to announce."
HR: "Wait, you have to post the opening for a week."
3 days later...
HR: "Deb from accounting has applied and she looks like a good candidate. Took her Y Spirit team to the championship game last year. We need you to conduct an interview."

Deb's Y Spirit team had a ringer with a fake birth certificate. She is overrated.

Im wondering if he is already signed with us. I wouldn't think Moos would leave him available for anyone to come in and make him an offer.

The Hank Bounds news might have thrown a wrench into his plans

Maybe a food fight erupted over firing Miles. Maybe Bounds was at odds with Moos and Frost over Mo Washington. Maybe he's just old and tired and wants to go watch the Masters.Winking
