Interesting of course that they announce the ban on a Friday of course before the Super Bowl and after NSD in football.

Wonder if they had announced this 2 weeks ago or even last week that they would have had a couple guys not sign?
Wonder if this helped us land our new coach away from them? I know I wouldn't want to be answering questions all the time about hookers from parents even though it was basketball that was skirting the rules.

It has nothing to do with football as far as we know. Matt Jones also said only 60-70% of the details had been released. Maybe it does sneak into the football side.

I would like to get Wildcard's analysis of this, preferably with a lot of bolded words for emphasis, as he is wont to submit. I admire his "objective" analysis regarding how long it should take to turn a football program around, and I would like to receive his input as to how long it may take UofLoL to turn their entire athletic department around.

"Peace".

I know the allegations are not against the FB team but the university itself is riff with scandals. I'm Sure the FB program does not like what is occurring with the bb program as a lot of this stuff bleeds over. When something happens at any program the NCAA comes sniffing around all the sports. And I'm sure the coaches find it harder to recruit and other schools will negative recruit. How come they didn't release this last week? If they did I'm sure other schools would use that trying to get Fitzgerald and Pass.

How much the super bowl and NSD had to do with the timing of the self-imposed postseason ban I'm not sure but I have ZERO doubt that the timing of the football stadium expansion was planned to give their fans something to be happy about before they dropped the H BOMB on them. The super bowl coverage pretty much made their announcement today a non-story on the big networks so you may be right

someone posted an article on rr that said that a new piece of info came to light that basically forced ramsey to act before the ncaa could. my guess is that some form of money trail was uncovered and it led to mcgee and a booster.

That would be awesome but I think it goes deeper than that. He was gone when some of this was taking place. Love for the NCAA to come in and check all phone records in all departments and maybe all the way back to when Strong first got their when their recruiting was phenominal. Think if they did enough digging they are goin to uncover several mishaps by the football team. Don't think any team is pure white as the snow as most are gonna break rules here and their even if they forget a rule. I'm sure most are unreported.

Strong? Don't you mean hurtt?

Nah, don't be silly, jurich backed him 100%, (not sure he had a choice but---), he would never cheat.

Wait a minute, didn't jurich back Willie 100% also?

Guess it's no wonder Slick Rick wants the UNLV job. Looks like him and the admin are on different pages and have parted ways.

To jump on the no post-season train with an investigation still in its infancy is unusual...unless something of great significance has been uncovered and they're trying to stay ahead of it.

Releasing the info on a Friday before the Super Bowl was planned and executed precisely. It becomes old news quick and gets buried by Monday.
This ban has probably been in the work for weeks now I'm sure

Would imagine he is busy checking with his sources on many things.

I didn't understand the reasoning behind UofL enforcing an penalty on itself before the NCAA presented findings. Now that I do and see how self serving it is for The University, it would be my wish that the NCAA gives them the same + in 2017.... Wouldn't that send a message to schools who've committed violations from gaming the very system they violated?.... Seems to me that the NCAA could stop this kind of nonsense real easy... Should have done it with Syracuse.
