I have had constant tinnitus since I was a kid. Also have high frequency hearing loss. Too many drums, cymbal crashes, and loud amplifiers. It sucks. If there’s a fix, I haven’t heard of it.
Well thanks a lot for making me notice mine. Most of the time I don't even notice it unless it is really quiet. I run a fan at night and that helps to block it out. Funny thing is since reading this thread it seems louder than normal. It's a pain to do a hearing test as well when the tone I'm supposed to hear is covered up by the ringing in my ears.
The absolute best remedy I've found is to cut out all sugar and HFCS. I have found that percieved pain and tinnitus are directly related to my sugar intake.
I have it and there are a few things that I have found that help. A lot of it depends on the root cause of your tinnitus.
Work to lower your blood pressure and increase you fitness level.
Limit exposure to prolonged loud music via headphones
Some medications are known to be associated with tinnitus such as water pills often included in blood pressure medicine. NSAIDs are another. Talk to your doctor if you take either.
