Your last paragraph is a head scratcher. Tickets for that game were available for a fraction of that price. Somewhere down the line, BJC tickets that cannot be sold or resold will be priced accordingly to get butts in seats.
It wasn't obvious enough sarcasm?

One way to tell: look at prices on the secondary market -- that's what people are willing to pay.

Cheapest available tickets on StubHub:
Oklahoma $227
Lehigh $148
Rutger $146
Indiana $166
Nebraska $278
anOSU $447
Princeton $126
Total $1,538

If we set Ohio State = Oklahoma, the total = $1,318. More than 5x the season ticket price.

Yes, this is an imperfect comparison -- cheaper tickets might appear on StubHub later. Still, point being that PSU tickets are priced at a steep discount relative to market value.
Is market value what less than 5% of people would pay? Because that is what you seem to be defining it.
If PSU set the season ticket price to your market value, there would be 0 sellouts.

I acknowledged it's not a perfect comparison. If you have a better quantifiable one, I'm all ears.

I don't think there's any question that PSU prices tickets well below market. So we're really just quibbling over how under-priced they are, and by extension how much revenue a money-losing sport is willingly foregoing.

To be clear: I'm OK with a little less than optimal revenue to lock in sellouts. We're not approaching that.

I can’t believe anyone is complaining about paying $250 for SEASON tickets. To the greatest dynasty in college sports.
Do they realize major high school wrestling tournaments are charging people $50 entry fees per day? Youth tournament weekends might set you back $150 for the parents to see their kids wrestle.
FMV for the season tickets is probably over $1000. And I might be conservative with that figure. The program is kind enough to ratchet up the undervalued tickets slowly instead of gouging with some “seat licensing” plan that is standard for high-demand tickets nowadays or a ridiculous Nittany Lion Club minimum “points” donation and we have people on here complaining about being priced out. $250 is not being priced out for anyone, not even someone on a fixed income. It’s $20/ month.
Bingo! Scanning the field of entertainment, it’s obvious to me that season tix to PSU wrestling is nothing short of a flaming bargain. Tens of millions of people of limited means in our country drop a thousand dollars or more on cigarettes and/or beer. If you like wrestling at its most elite level … just plan to spend 10-20% more each year. It’ll still be a bargain in 5 years compared to any professional sport.

Don't forget tattoos of beer brands.

Cael loves to see his arena's being sold out. Of the 3 BJC matches which one if any will not sell out?

This is what I’m saying above. I don’t see this as pricing people out. I think next to volleyball it’s the best bargain season ticket to be had.

Call the ticket office. You might sit on hold a bit, but, they absolutely will give you an answer ……. Probably one you like.

Try going to the ticketmaster site. If you have last years email, that link may take you there. Log in and see if the invoice shows up there.

Same thing happend to me. I called the ticket office earlier this week and they said I had unsubscribed from emails, which is why I didn’t receive the renewal notice. I don’t recall doing that… seems pretty hinky
to me. The conspiracy theorist side of me says they’re doing this intentionally with some accounts so they get some that unintentionally won’t renew, to chip away at the long waiting list. I paid over the phone and had to email [email protected] to request being put back on the wrestling distribution list again.

Welp. Tickets for the Oklahoma going on sale to season ticket holders this morning. Tickets in the 100 level for $112.70 each. No, that's not secondary market pricing. It's what PSU is selling them for to existing season ticket holders on presale. Is it still a screaming bargain?

Athletic department has to raise money for Franklin’s buyout.

I'll say this much. Tickets are flying even at this price. Makes me happy to be a season ticket holder, as I paid about 1/2 of that price for the BJC matches.

Wow, and apparently they are not selling the upper deck so the $113 tix are the only options.
Hopefully the other two BJC events have upper deck available at a reasonable price.

When I first saw the prices and where the seats were, I logged out without purchasing anything. When I logged back in a few minutes later, a pop-up said more tickets will be available during the public sale. I believe they were trying to fill the lower mezzanine before offering upper mezzanine seats for sale. I’ll try again when the public sale opens up, although I’m not paying $113 a ticket.

Had a buddy ask me to get 2 extra for him this morning… come on man… since we paid $50 for BJC matches as season ticket holders… this seems to be some serious price gouging by the Athletic Department (and yes I am aware of the high rental fee for the BJC). We all understand that we get an exceptional product in PSU wrestling … I think we also all have a bad feeling when we’ve been taken advantage of.

Public sale started at 2 and it doesn’t appear like any new availability and definitely no cheaper price….

That's part of the contract as well. He is required to look for employment and he's not going to have a problem finding a job.
Does it say he can't deny the job? I'm curious I haven't read his contract. You seem to be knowledgeable about the situation.

I can see him taking a TV job for 7-8 million for 1 year and collecting the $ from Penn st minus the 7-8
I believe it says he has to have a good faith effort to find employment at market rates.
After that it is up to the lawyers to possibly argue.
But he has said he wants to win a NC, and I believe his ego thinks he can, so I don’t see him sitting back and Scrooge mcduck diving into a pool of money.
