Are you people really debating whether Towles was good?

He sucked. He sucks now.

Let's see, tonight he was 12-22 one interception. Last week, 11-17 , one interception. Last year, he had 14 interceptions to 9 touchdowns.

He might be a class teammate, a stand up guy, but as a football player, he is garbage.

This debate has been over for awhile now. Not sure why some are rehashing.

Patrick Towles wasn't "awful" or "terrible". More like inconsistent...

He ranks 6th in UK passing yardage, and 2nd for QBs who played only 3 years.

Not looking to bash either Drew or Pat as both were quality QBs from Kentucky and we were all uber excited about both signing with UK.

But if you're blaming Pat for his stats, here are Drew's:

Career: 5 TDs, 6 INTs

As disappointed as Pat left us, Drew hasn't been better statistically or on the field. I see no leadership, no sense of urgency, and no desire coming from him. His post-game interviews simply show a guy who is complacent with playing regardless of the result.

He was just horrible at every level, and would not start at a Division 2 school. He has no business playing like that in the SEC. Did you see the other conference quarterbacks yesterday?

I am sick of the constant national embarrassments, the jokes from the media commentators about how bad UK has and always will be and the long lists of teams we haven't beat in X number of years. And the answer is to blame the fans??? How does a backwater regional city college 80 miles away constantly get better players, better coaches and more wins, regardless of the resources we dump into it. You think Loserville has better fans??? Oh, HELL no.

For the record I'm not saying that this is Barker's fault. He did play miserably but it's like his third start. What do you expect? I'm more so speaking to the people who wanted to put all of the woes of last year's team on Pat. What do you want to do now? Bench Barker?

The reason our team is perpetually terrible is that the fan base is perpetually impatient and every year has to find somebody to blame. Sometimes there is nobody to blame. Sometimes you just don't have it. It takes a team. It takes time to build a complete team. Our O-line has the talent but needs time. Drew Barker has shown he has the arm but he needs time to grow and develops poise. Our defensive line has lost three people that should be key pieces in the last couple of years but that doesn't matter to anybody.

Stoops has not done himself any favors but the fan base hasn't helped at all. We can fire him I guess, but then we're starting over again in the same damn cycle. The only way we'll get better is to stick with a coach for a while. More than 3-4 years.

The longer you stick with a coach who has no pattern of success, the more you reinforce in his head that losing is OK. Stoops should have walked out of the Swamp, took off his UK shirt, turned to the fans and said 'I am terribly sorry. Please take your money back', and walked into the ocean with lead weights around his neck...but as long as he has a 12 million buyout, and a bunch of fans whining 'he needs more time', he will never, ever change.

All coaches are not meant to be head coaches. He is one of those.

Reading comprehension much? The post was in reference to that one play bein referenced in the quoted post.

Film study by the Florida secondary to recognize OUR formation and then jump the play. HE (the corner) made a play.

Barker has a fairly quick release. Quick screens aren't a read play. You catch the snap and turn and throw and trust the receiver picks up that block if anyone jumps the play.

Barker just went 2 for 10 for 9 yards. Three INTs. All against an average Florida team. You have to be a fool to think Towles is on this same level. Hell, Towles nearly beat Florida twice. Towles never had a game anywhere close to this piss poor

I didn't think I would ever see a QB have a worse half than Barker had against UL last year, but he managed to pull it off.

Boston College is #105 in Passing Offense while Kentucky is # 96

Towles ranks #61 in Passing Efficiency while Barker is #46

So yeah, I'm happy even though both are awful. The real difference between the two is one likes to shake and fluff his hair for the cameras and the other doesn't do that.

The difference between BC and UK is one has a decent defense and the other doesn't.
Barker has far fewer opportunities than Towles.

Towles: completed 23 of 39 w/ 2 INTs and 2 TDs for 335 yds on the season
Barker: completed 17 of 34 w/ 4 INTs and 4 TDs for 333 yds on the season

Kentucky has played Southern Miss and Florida
Boston College has played Georgia Tech and UMASS

My happiness only extends between Barker and Towles. We just got rid of one lousy QB for another lousy QB.
