Good luck to both squads. I'm very proud that two teams from the CCL are playing for the 8A title. I hope it's a tight, thrilling game that's so good it actually gets covered in the Tribune.

I really don't care who wins, although I can't admit to that to the parents of an LA player I know from ushering at Mass.

I'll be very honest with you. For years I've been hoping for this. Yes, I'm very bitter about the way Catholic schools have been treated by that narrow-minded IHSA.

If I were in charge, I'd leave that silly association of windbags and set up a private group, with the CCL, ESCC and the other league (no offense, I don't recall its name) as well as any other private schools fed up with that group of stiffs. Too many old, white men. It's like a convention of insurance agents.

I'd welcome Hope Academy back and I'd do it with an apology for the way they've been treated.

Certainly, the new group would fully accommodate girls sports.

Unfortunately, the new league would be limited to the 6 county region. Otherwise, travel would be a nightmare.

I love Ramblinman's NIPL name, but ...

Before anyone's comb-over hits the fan, I know that private schools have certain advantages. I also know that public schools have equal or greater advantages. I also know that Catholicism isn't a welcome subject outside these 6 counties. I also know I'm going to get some grief. I've never shied away from it before.

Oddly I'm 100% with you on this one. Let's go CCL, ESCC and our friends from the Metro. Make it a great weekend. Regardless of outcomes, we are well represented this coming weekend with 3 titles on lock, including the the highest level.

Good stuff, great post @MC63.

@ MC63 - I saw your ushering at mass comment and chuckled because I usher at Sunday mass as well and this past weekend I met two Mt Carmel football players (twins) and their parents - only odd because the church is right down the street from Fenwick! I asked about their long commute to 64th Dante - they seemed unfazed by it

That's nothin' ...about five years back, we had a kid from the suburb of North Chicago attending MC. I don't think he played football. He boarded a train north of Great Lake Naval Base.

That's a Carmel guy!

ps: we have/ had kids from Hinsdale, Frankfort, Park Ridge ... you name it.

I went there from Evergreen Park -- 90 minutes on three CTA buses.

I’ll refrain from saying their names, but big boys, curly hair?
