Most of the updates I have seen still have us outside the top 5. CBS Sports (Parrish) has us outside the top 10.

The so-called experts love them some UF, since they added Fland and Condon decided to return.

But remember these experts had KU preseason #1 last season.
They were high on Kansas and UConn.

Both teams shat the bed.

Seems like they don't rate our top 5 players as highly as other teams.

If basketball required 7 or 8 players on the court for each team, we'd be ranked closer to the top.

That’s why I’m waiting on the day we see a platoon again. That was a lot of fun. Talent might not be close to what it was in 15 but we have two groups than can hoop. Noah played last year a good amount and he isn’t even a part of the first ten. Maybe he is top ten on the team I really like him and want to give him some credit but still I think we have the players to do it this year.

Pre season rankings aside, I think within the first two to three weeks of the season's start, we are going to see this top ten emerge :

1) Houston
2) Purdue
3) Kentucky
4) St. John's
5) dUKe
6) UConn
7) BYU
8) Michigan
9) Arkansas
10) Louisville

Good projection.

I think (hope) Duke is too high, but the rest look good.
Thanks Bucs, I don't know why i think (and hope, as well) that dUKe is too high, but I keep coming back to "who in the ACC is going to get the sympathy seed ".... and you know who that always is, right ? I mean ... the only other team I see remotely in top ten contention in the ACC would be Louisville..... and they get dUKe twice nexxt year, so we will see, but I think that pro-east biased east coast sportwriter-voter mentality will keep dUKe afloat all year long.

but thats just me.

Sidenote : they're ALL going to have Kentucky in AT LEAST the top ten preseason next year because it sure as hell will make them look bad the lower they have us, and the longer the season goes next year. If ANYONE DOESN'T HAVE US IN THE TOP TEN, LAUGH.

I'd bet on that.

but as with all things, I've been wrong before.

Lots of interesting takes to have as a valid viewpoint, but our board is the best at assessing the situation. I'll stick with the Rafters' every time !

I’m bored, so I revised my rankings and went with a top 16 and kind of did a way too early bracketology. If Lunardi and Palm can do a summer bracketology, why can’t I? I’m just as good and just as qualified. LOL!

1 Houston(Midwest- Chicago)
2 Purdue(East- Washington)
3 UK(South- Houston)
4 St. John’s(West- San Jose)
5 BYU(West- San Jose)
6 Michigan(Midwest- Chicago)
7 UConn(South- Houston)
8 Arkansas(East- Washington)
9 UF(West- San Jose)
10 Duke(East- Washington)
11 UofL(Midwest- Chicago)
12 Iowa St.(South- Houston)
13 Illinois(South- Houston)
14 Texas Tech(East- Washington)
15 Alabama(Midwest- Chicago)
16 UCLA(West- San Jose)

I had Auburn way too high. Pearl is good, but besides Pettiford, he has a whole new team. I think they struggle a bit. He’s a great coach, but he lost like 10 Seniors and like 9 of his top 10 players (I’m guessing there).

I like UK to win the SEC this season. Everyone is down and that leaves the door open for a team that returned some key pieces, added some nice portal pieces, an international player, and a really good recruiting class. Probably the deepest team in the SEC (and probably the country).

I like Arkansas except for their coach. UF has a formidable frontcourt, but have to replace an all world backcourt. Bama is kind of the opposite, with a good returning backcourt but a rebuilt frontcourt. I would probably put Mizzou and Tennessee in the top 25 as well. And Auburn, because of Pearl, also in there.

I think the SEC will be a lot less top heavy, with a lot of really good teams, but no amazing teams like UF, Auburn, Bama, and UT were last season. It’s going to be more competitive top to bottom, I think. Everyone is replacing big Senior classes. Should make it interesting and create more parity. Whoever ends up on top of the conference will be much closer to whoever ends up on bottom this time around, IMHO.

Man, I can’t wait for the season to start, and I love summer time. For me (I’m a teacher) this is the best time and the worst time of the year. Ready for basketball season, but enjoying being lazy this summer (besides coaching my son’s middle school soccer team, I am not doing much of nothing this summer).

Why did you put Houston in Chicago and not in the Houston region? Is that a thing teams aren't allowed to play in their home city?

Somehow they will try and get St. Johns in the same region as UofL, Arkansas, or UK. That will be a TV ratings dream matchup lol.

I believe everyone is so high on Florida because of Boogie Fland. Experts are really expecting him to have a big year.

Sounds about right.
