It doesn't fee like there is a lot of excitement around NU Hoops right now. Still, I really enjoyed listening to the full press conference. I think that it is going to be a fun season. With only 10 scholarship players, everyone is going to play and be counted on to perform--and, on paper, these are indeed 10 exciting players. I am hopeful about NU's defense regaining its intensity, led by redshirt junior Anthony Gaines. And I am intrigued that Collins is modifying the offense. He also mentioned at least twice that they are testing lineups with Nance at center. Good stuff.

Now, when will they announce the schedule?

I think everyone expects them to be far better. Every single pundit I have read has NU either last or next to last. The B1G has half their teams in the top 25. NU could play great and take 10th. It will be a fun team to watch, but to expect a winning conference record seems like a big stretch.

This will be Collins's 8th year. Why would it be a big stretch to ask for a winning conference record? At some point, he has to win games or we have to say that the tournament year was nothing more than a fluke/outlier. His last 3 conference records are: 6-12, 4-16, 3-17. He really needs to turn that trend around. If he doubles his win total to 6 would you consider that a success?

Success is making the NCAA tournament. Period. Let's not lower the bar just because we have not proven to be up to the task.

Dude's gotta get to 7-9 wins this year. 7 being barely acceptable. More than 9 I'd consider unrealistic.

We are only clearly expected to be better than Nebraska.

But there are a few teams we can realistically believe we can be as good as:
-PSU
-Minny
-Purdue

And a few more that it's reasonable to think we can steal one:
-Indiana
-Maryland
-Ohio State

That's seven right there, winning just one against those.

I'm with you, 8 wins would be a good year IMO. And then Nance/Kopp's senior year making the tourney. Sure, 5, 6 conference wins would double our total, but that's not meaningful progress.

And FWIW Nebraska won't be in the basement for very long. They just signed a five-star top 25 recruit (Bryce Mcgowens) on Friday.

With Chambers' departure, all 3 of PSU's recruits have decommited.

The return of Gaines should solidify the D and the additions of Berry and Audige should give the Cats a much needed boost on O, guys who can hit the 3 and create their own shots.

Not sure I get your point. Those decommits were 2021 recruits, won't impact the PSU team this year.

7th Cir. Cat in the post prior to mine talks about Nance/Kopp's SR season and how Nebby just signed a top 25 recruit.

Was just expounding on other developments which will impact how CC's team will fare in the not too distant future.
