This is where Todd killed it...weekly updates on what recruits are doing. Anybody want to take that ball and run with it?
Nice find, thank you for posting it.
I know they wrestled Sem but do you know who the bachmann’s faced. Worries me how defensive they both wrestle, always in 1 takedown matches when the competition is higher levelI’m no Todd. But Fred Bachmann won 4-1 and Joe Bachmann won 2-1 in tiebreakers tonight.
I’m wondering the same, who did they face specifically? Dale Corbin and Joe faced Michael Turi ? Or who?I know they wrestled Sem but do you know who the bachmann’s faced. Worries me how defensive they both wrestle, always in 1 takedown matches when the competition is higher level
Corbin would be a nice win for Fred, he lost to him at super 32 4-0 if that’s who it was.I’m wondering the same, who did they face specifically? Dale Corbin and Joe faced Michael Turi ? Or who?
Well, I was at the dual and I can’t even be certain. For a great wrestling program, SEM is a bit of a mess. For example, they post their schedule without posting the time. I had to go to Faith Christian’s website to confirm it was a 7pm start. Their sound system is horrible and you can barely make out what is being announced. Then between matches they blare loud music and try to announce the wrestlers for the next match over the music. It’s not remotely possible to hear the announcement.I know they wrestled Sem but do you know who the bachmann’s faced. Yeah the Bachmann’s win a lot and have amazing defense but they aren’t the most exciting to watch honestly. I think every high level match I’ve seen of Joe he gets called for stalling and seems like all their matches are 1 takedown matches. Hopefully they both learn how to open up their offense more. People won’t like the comparison much but they kind of remind me of Dean Peterson in highschool who was also a big recruit. Great scramblers, great defense, but just don’t seem interested in getting to their offense much as of now.Well, I was at the dual and I can’t even be certain. I believe Fred wrestled Marcus Heck. Corbin wrestled 138 I believe and pretty much toyed with his food. I haven’t a clue who Joe wrestled as most of SEM’s starters are new and this was their first dual this season.
As SEM is not that great this year I was mostly interested in seeing the Bachmans, Singer, and Adam Waters. Effing SEM forfeited the Waters match and Singer looked great. I have to say, I wasn’t impressed with Fred. He didn’t take a single shot in the first period or the second which was mostly neutral after a quick escape. Joe was more active, but frankly 1 takedown each against non elite wrestlers was not what I expected.

Saw Ross say that Joe Bachmann beat Michael Turi, which is actually a great win.Well, I was at the dual and I can’t even be certain. For a great wrestling program, SEM is a bit of a mess. Turi with two 7ths and a 3rd at Pa. states. Solid wrestler, hardly elite.Saw Ross say that Joe Bachmann beat Michael Turi, which is actually a great win.
At Elite 8 duals Sonny Amato beat him in summer. Sonny Amato’s defense is realllllyyy good, I think he got 2 takedowns on him and took him to his back after a crazy scramble, but the match had to be stopped because Michael Turi called for injury.
It’s PA though and he lost a close match to Dalton Perry, who is a solid wrestler; but I get your take.Turk with two 7ths and a 3rd at Pa. states. Solid wrestler, hardly elite.
I know joe wrestled up a weight to win against turi.I’m wondering the same, who did they face specifically? Dale Corbin and Joe faced Michael Turi ? Or who?
Pa.. Wrestling shows him wrestling a week ago at 152. If he really is wrestling up a weight (curious what he weighs), then last night’s win looks a bit better.I know joe wrestled up a weight to win against turi.
As you know, high level guys do that in high school to get a better challenge and help the team in a duel if needed. Kennedy wrestled in the 180’s his senior year for those reasons, giving up a lot of size. Came down to 165 in college u til getting beat out for the spot.Pa.. Yeah, I get it, but usually you see evidence of that by results at different weights. The only other match I can find for this fall is last week at 152. The only suggestion that he is wrestling up is from a rando here with 1 post. If he is wrestling up, great, but it would be nice to know if that’s really true.As you know, high level guys do that in high school to get a better challenge and help the team in a duel if needed. @jayridescarbon this article suggests that Joe Bachmann did move up; but we will see what weight he is throughout the season. If he is not 144 at Ironman then this makes me to believe he is wrestling 150.Here is the Faith Christian vs Wyoming Seminary summary:

Faith Christian Wrestling Rallies Past Wyoming Seminary to Stay at No. 1 in the Nation
One match. Just one match. That was the difference in Faith Christian Academy wrestling holding onto its No. 1 ranking in the country on Friday night when theywww.si.com
Thanks, missed that line about moving up when I first saw that write up. Of course, in wrestling lingo, moving up (now weighing in up to the new weight) and wrestling up (still weighing in at the lower weight) for the challenge/team strategy are different. As I can’t see any earlier matches where he wrestled at 144, I guess, as you suggested, we’ll need to see where he wrestles moving forward to know if he moved up or wrestled up the past 2 matches.@jayridescarbon this article suggests that Joe Bachmann did move up; but we will see what weight he is throughout the season. Pretty impressive to win at 150 because I've heard he's an underweight 144@jayridescarbon this article suggests that Joe Bachmann did move up; but we will see what weight he is throughout the season. If he is not 144 at Ironman then this makes me to believe he is wrestling 150.
You new hereWtf is this thread with alleged Iowa fans taking shots at our own recruits? Yeesh.
Where were "shots taken"? I must have missed something.Wtf is this thread with alleged Iowa fans taking shots at our own recruits? Yeesh.
Probably about winning 1 takedown matches and not much offense and fitting right in at Iowa. Stupid **** that shouldn’t be postedWhere were "shots taken"? I must have missed something.
Let’s be clear… we don’t know if this is even a hawk fan by the comments and stuff he echoes on here….Will fit right in.
Nobody said they aren’t good, they’re extremely talented but would love for them to open up their offense. They’re consistently in close matches and need to open up to be national title threats at the next level. Watch Ironman all of Joe’s matches from at least quarterfinals on were one takedown matches. Now that being said he’s a winner and he won a huge tournament. But it’s like people crying over Dean Peterson not opening up or being in boring matches. Like how can you complain when if you’ve ever watched him wrestle you would know that is exactly who he is. A guy who will win a lot but it’s gonna be tight with the best guy at the weight and just as tight with the 20th best guy. Hard to win national titles that way. That being said they’re both extremely talented and I believe have the ability to open upProbably about winning 1 takedown matches and not much offense and fitting right in at Iowa. I would argue Ferrari fits this style and is definitely a national title threat. Him and Peterson show no signs of panic anywhere in there matches. I like points too but if the strategy works, especially at Nattys, Im in.Nobody said they aren’t good, they’re extremely talented but would love for them to open up their offense. I don't think anyone has taken Angelo down in college yet? Don't have to score a ton if nobody scores on you! I agree though that I would like to see Angelo get a takedown or two early to seal the deal in his matches.I would argue Ferrari fits this style and is definitely a national title threat. Angelo has not been taken down, I thought Star did last year but he didn't. He definitely wrestles with ice in his veins when the match is on the line against the top tier. From a fan perspective, I enjoy that just as much as Desantos offense. Brandon Sorenson was calculated that way.I don't think anyone has taken Angelo down in college yet? When you think about the level of competition he has already faced as a true freshman and redshirt freshman, I can’t believe he hasn’t given up a takedown yet.I don't think anyone has taken Angelo down in college yet? 100%. Sinclair is exceptionally good at takedowns. Ferrari has by far had the toughest schedule of any Hawk. He will have McEnally likely 2 and maybe 3 times who will definitely challenge that streak. Those two are going to be some great stuff to watch. When you think about the level of competition he has already faced as a true freshman and redshirt freshman, I can’t believe he hasn’t given up a takedown yet.
Not SURE why YOU keep trying THISANGELO is 1 TUFF sOb to score on!!! That being said, I believe he has TONS more offense IF he chose to open up. THAT being said, his style becomes more of a NIGHTMARE for his competition as you get deeper into the NCAA tournament and REFs swallow their whistles!!!
NOT sure how ANYONE takes him down, certainly NOT happening with any consistence!!! IF I was him or TnT I would make the "adjustment" to scoring at least one early TD. ANGELO with a 3-0, 3-1 lead heading into the 2nd period is going to WIN about 99% of the time!!! In the SEMIs or FINALs of NCAAs, I would say 100%!!!
ANYONE trying to push the action against him will open up his "cat N mouse" game giving him many more likely openings TWOOOO score!!!
ALL this being said, I would suggest starting to work on a few "tweaks" against lower level competition 1st and see how it plays out? LORD knows that in a one TD match, you leave a lot of things open for something bad/strange/stupid etc..... to happen!!!!
Wasn’t someone who knew Ironbird IRL gonna check up on this? Anything ever happen with that? Not SURE why YOU keep trying THIS
