This is something I noticed today, but maybe Grantham had a lot more to do with the collapse than we previously noted. He always tried to escape a job to another situation before things got bad, but this time he got caught?

Mark Richt at UGA was always a solid coach, but it seems like his era and him was right before Richt's era was falling apart.

Bobby Petrino was a great coach at every stop. He had his issues, but won games. The defense with all that talent collapses in late 2016. He heads to Miss State and the defense he left behind and program overall was in shamble.

Now at Florida? Mullen was a consistent winner at Miss State. He had been a UF before and knew the school. But now?

Look at 2020 UF, they were a playoff contender with so much talent. Got over the hump and beat Georgia. But then a weird loss to LSU that sends them on a streak. Looks like the lockerroom is lost and their defense is just brutal. Remind anyone of 2016 to 17-18?

You do wonder if his toxic presence was a much larger problem than we could all see. We knew he wasn't the best, but maybe he wasn't great internally?

He was fiery and his players loved playing for him. Agree he seems to make a positive impact that peaks early and then trails off. Hard to explain but those defenses in years 1 & 2 for BP 2.0 were fun to watch.

He's a scapegoat. He's a top tier DC, in my mind. You're not going to find a perfect guy leading a defense. You can point to breakdowns, missed coverages, late game collapses for any DC. Stuff happens. But, I liked his style. He'll find a new job without any trouble.

Not a big fan of Todd, but a closer examination of UF‘s disappointing performance this season would suggest their lack of offense was equally responsible for the losses that result in firings.

UF’s loss to UK was result of only scoring 13 points, and their loss to South Carolina last week was just as bad offensively as it was defensively. 13 points against USC Jr is an indication of much more serious problems than just defense.

Grantham took a lot of heat in our loss at Houston, but if you re-examine the injury-depleted defense going into that game, coupled with a horrible offense performance ……it goes a long way towards explaining why Grantham was more of a scape-goat.

But to be fair, Florida was historically good offensively last year. They were the ONLY team that gave Bama a game. They lost quite a bit and haven't figured it out, but their defense has had issues the last few years.

And remember the Georgia fans HATED him when he left. We HATED him when he left. Florida fans were begging for him to be fired last year. It just seems like a trend.

Not blaming him fully, Bobby didn't recruit defense at all, but Todd G seems to be there when great coaches (Richt, Petrino, and now Mullen) start to have a decline in their programs.

Hard to score when your QB only looks at one read and becomes very predictable. I watched most of the of the game vs UK and he is a great athlete, just not a good QB.

For example, I give you this (which is perhaps the best metaphor EVER for what happened in the back half of the BP 2.0 era):

Exactly Morgantown; that tells the story. Mullen and UF, as well as UGA fans needed a scapegoat when their team disappoints, and a DC or OC a are always the first to go.

Any SEC HC that loses to UK, USC Jr or GOD forbid Vandy are destined to lose their job. The first thing they do to save their own job is to fire either the DC or the OC. Mullen is “dead man walking” ……UF fans are livid with losing to Uk and So Carolina.

Grantham runs a way too complex system for college. It can work with a lot of experienced talent. His problem is when he has to replace players or use younger guys. Too much confusion at times. He has to have the right mix of players to be successful.

Remember Louisville was loaded early due to Strong. Once talent started leaving he became very average at Louisville.

Maybe all you Grantham supporters can explain to me how many head coaching jobs he has had or even been really seriously considered for. I'll wait . . . . . . . . . . . . . A very good explanation. He, like his former boss here, Petrino, are losers and there is no other way to put it. Unfortunately, we got stuck with both of them.
