Asked to look elsewhere by Franklin or Dabo was out shopping? Not a huge loss IMO. He called a great 1st half vs ND, but wasn't prepared in the 2nd Half.

Bring home Al Golden, Elijah Robinson (from 'Cuse) or...D'Anton Lynn

Robinson is a great DL recruiter. When he was at A&M he brought in the best DL class a few years back.

I kind of disagree here. I think he’s been a great addition to the coaching staff and it would be a loss. As far as the Orange Bowl, it was pointed out here he had to prepare the defense for the ND backup QB at halftime, and for the first time in history a player knocked senseless cleared concussion protocol and came back in. After thinking about that a bit I don’t totally fault him for that first drive in the 3rd.

With an entire halftime to prepare, he couldn’t come up with a game plan for both quarterbacks? If that’s true, then I wouldn’t want him back.

And most of them probably transferred out the next year. A&M seems to have tremendous roster turnover

Manny Diaz's defense gave up 15.3 PPG over two years, and Allen was only slightly behind at 15.9 (this year).
Allen is also a Frank Broyles candidate, so some knowledgeable people recognize his talent. Of the assistant coaches CJF brought in, Allen is more valuable than the other two.

But Manny has better hair. That’s worth another PPG. So, 14.3 vs. 15.9.

I think it can be difficult to come in as a coordinator when the staff is entrenched Dex, Smith, Conner and Deion. Perhaps he doesn't have as much autonomy as he'd like? Personality can play a role in the building. Or perhaps his wife isn't happy here? Lots of possibilities that aren't about _$$ or Xand O.

It might also be leverage for a pay raise. Clemson isn’t exactly on a great arc right now. Allen would be the first one under the bus if they lose 3-4 games next year.
It could be any one of a number of things.

My point is that I believe he is most valuable assistant CJF brought in this past year. His loss would be a big deal. There are other good coaches out there.

BTW is Nattering Nabob our old friend Julian from the old board?

I don’t think so. LdN is on the other board only.

Disagree. Kotelnicki did more with less. Did you watch the WRs this year?

I watched the entire team this year. I know the WRs did not perform, but they have not performed in a couple of years - did you watch the WRs in the last couple of years? If you are looking at the WRs, then AK did not do more with less - he did less with the same.

2022 - 35.8 ppg;
2023 - 37.6 ppg

2024 - 33.9 ppg

So, AK is down 1.9.3.7 PPG, with the the same WR problems and issues. And, PSU had a better running game in 2024 than 2023 team did. But still less points per game.

I do remember how it sort of surprised his wife when the PSU offer came in and he really wanted to get back into coaching right away. Perhaps there is a familial influence with this lateral move.

Jesus. PSU is a BLUE. BLOOD. o_O and finished #4, as a playoff semifinalist, and lost the DC to a lateral move.

How many programs in PSU’s position lose a coach to a lateral move? For f*ck’s sake.

For one reason or another, there is no continuity in Franklin’s staff. Lots of turnover.

I'm hearing James didn't fight too hard to keep him. So there's that. Lots of noise about staying internal. The usual suspects plus Dan Conner.

Yes, it's not good for the BWICAC to have coaches leave willingly. They want the chance to fire them!
