Yea because Tony Levine was just killing it before he got fired last year. Go check out their recruiting rankings if you believe that. Herman is just a top notch coach. It doesn't take long to see if you know what you're doing or not. Look in our own conference at Dan Mullen for further proof. He inherited a dumpster fire at MSU and got it rolling in Year 2.

They won 8 games the year before and most football people knew they were returning most of their talent.

Hmm so now I guess a 3*** Texas kid is really a 5*****? I've been reading for years how a kid from Florida/ Georgia is much faster than a Ohio kid is and how they are ranked lower but should be much higher.
A kid from ohio who runs a 4.4- 40 is much slower than a kid from florida who runs a 4.4- 40 and is turtle slow compared to a texas kid running a 4.4- 40. I'm wondering why TV Williams who is from Texas who is really a 5 star cannot beat out those Ohio kids who are over ranked?

I'm wondering how that Texas who gets nothing but these kids is not in the playoffs every year?
I never mentioned a 4.4 speed from one state being faster than from another...impossible and a really stupid take by you...I do think a 3* from TX is usually much better than a 3* from say KY, because the competition that they play every week has them much more prepared. They also practice and have to beat out better competition to get on the field.

Rankings are getting more consistent because showcase camps can get kids from different states going head to head, but hell yes I value players from Florida, TX and some other states over the KYs, TNs, IN etc.

I understand your point, but I think that the ratings take that into account in the first place. That's the reason that places like Texas and Florida already have dozens of 3 and 4 players for every one that Kentucky produces. That's why many Kentucky high school phenoms barely get a sniff from the scouting services.

He is certainly a good coach, but I'll take the roster stacked with 5 star recruits if I am in the SEC.

The population of TX and FL is much much greater than that of KY...also another reason for their greater number of higher ranked players...basically because they have more

Per capita, each state has a lot more. I can look it up, but I would guess that it is between 5 to 8 times as many, per capita.

And Alabama just proved that you DO have to have those guys to win championships.

Dan Mullen is in a state with a lot more talent than Kentucky and can supplement roster holes with the MS JUCO system
At times I think we should just give up. I've heard every excuse ever about obstacles that we have when someone else does good. Mississippi St. sucked as bad as we did for a number of years going as far back as the 80s and 90s. Then when they start kicking our butt they all at once get a great feeder system they never tapped into and it has nothing to do with a different coach.

You do have to have the guys to win when it gets down to the final four. You can beat some other teams with better talent just because of their own mismanagement and being able to outcoach the other sideline. Hard to win consistently though, and almost nearly impossible to win when it gets down to four left. Usually takes a pretty good coach to get to that point.

If you can't see Houston is a well coached team then you need to get your eyes checked. With that said, UH doesn't quite have the road UK has when it comes to tough competition week in and week out or the recruit battle in conference. You see plenty of upsets come bowl season but still Houston would blow us off the field

No kidding, not just well coached but also talented. Houston beat Louisville at their place, smoked Navy who went 11-2 (only other loss was to Notre Dame), and beat Vanderbilt 34-0, same Vandy that beat UK, Missouri and almost beat South Carolina and Florida. In short, I am confident Houston would have fared quite well in any P5 conference you can name, would not have won the conference, maybe, but would have been one of the best teams in any P5 conference.

Kind of misleading statement since we totally dominated them most of the first half.

You mean when they had the other QB in the game? We got 1 offensive TD on a drive? Luckily for us we got some TO's or they would have beaten us something like 49-10.

At the beginning of the year I'd say we were about even with the game being a toss up. They continued to get better as the year went along and we went in the opposite direction fast.
I know it sucks losing to them but you have to look in the mirror and face reality or your never gonna change it. Living in a fantasy world is something I'm glad our coaches are not doing. They want to get better and trying too, not patting themselves on the back saying ya we outplayed them for 1 quarter in the game.

Look I don't like losing ever to ul and they beat us worse in the second half then we did to them in the first half. But sorry they didn't dominate the whole game.
