I think they'll be a lot less biased. Cal made a lot of enemies in stripes. Pope doesn't seem to have any.

I know people complain that he doesn't lose his cool as much. But you can have a Calipari who shows that fire and has refs that hate him--or you can have a coach that thinks before screaming at the refs who doesn't have a target on his back.
Did you forget the Clemson and Georgia games last year?

Or Ole Miss when he broke furniture. Just because people think he’s Mr. Rogers doesn’t mean we know what he’s doing when the trolley isn’t around
In games he’s like a general and calm. Heard he ripped think it was Mo, in practice a few weeks ago. Which is good. Rather that than screaming and raving like Calipari, on the sidelines.

As a fan I much prefer Pope's sideline demeanor to Cal's. If I were a player I'm sure I would even more.

And let me add, I played a long time ago. All of my coaches were Bobby Knight wannabes. They were not our buddy nor did they want to be.

One of the best coaches I ever played for also ended up being Rick Stansbury's coach. I asked Rick about that one time how much of his coaching was like that. He said his defensive philosophy was all his. But his temper with players was not. He asked me if I liked the coach. I told him I did not. Probably didn't hate him like some but there was no love. Until I was about 25 years old. At that point I came to appreciate what he taught and the discipline and had a good relationship with him when he died. He said, 'same here!"
