Yeah this one hurts. Listening to Wildflowers from beginning to end tonight. God, what an album. Easily a top 10 all-time for me.

Don’t know if it’s still on Netflix but there’s a 4hr documentary on him that is fantastic.
One of the beat songwriters ever IMO. Great song after great song

One of my favorite artist of all time....heartbroken. Not sure I can even pick a favorite song, it changes every time I hear another one. Saw him many times, have learned some of his song playing around on guitar. Used to sing "Alright For Now" to my kids when I put them to bed at night. Wore "Spike" out in college! Actually took a buddy if mine to the football game Saturday, we listened to TP all the way back to Louisville. He wasn't much of a fan but he is now. He will be missed.

These two may be my favorites.....

I know the man hasn't been buried yet, but I would be in favor of The Heartbreakers going back on tour at some point when they have some closure with somebody like Jeff Lynne or Jackson Browne or Steve Winwood fronting them and paying tribute to the man. I'm sure he would support such a thing.

I don't know what was in the water in Gainesville in the '60's but a ton of musical talent came out in a short period of time. Don Felder, guitarist of Eagles fame (and the man who wrote the music to "Hotel California") started a group in high school with Stephen Stills, when Stills family left Gainesville, he was replaced by Bernie Leadon, who was a founding member of the Eagles and Felder worked on credit to buy guitars at a downtown Gainesville music store and was hired to teach guitar, and in walks an 11-year old scrawny blond kid and Felder taught this Tom Petty kid how to play.
