just a couple of thoughts here, but I felt for the majority of the game, Tommy made a big jump in improvement. I looked over his stats, and he ended the game just north of 58% completion. Yes the 2nd Qtr was old Tommy, but it was really neat to see his growth in the other 3 Qtrs.

It was pretty obvious, and even the announcers noted the difference. He had lots of throws there that I don't think the old Tommy would have ever made, so I was really impressed with his growth at the position.

I'm not entirely sure what to make of his emotions after the game, as I don't think I have ever seen that from him, but IF he continues to work on everything he has been working on, there is a lot more out there for him.

It is also pretty apparent that coach Langsdorf knows how to develop that position. I think most of us felt that he could, but this was some actual proof of it.

Throwing off the back foot is probably the big one he kept repeating at times, but overall, I felt he did a much better job.

Tommy needs to grow up hold his head up and leave the field with dignity win or lose. I was embarrassed for him crying like that.

What I take a why from the game is he looked good for most of the game he threw off of his back leg a lot last night but I would say 80%of the time he threw off the back leg he had some one in his face when he was drop back, of they get the line fixed the offense will be just fine

I like when players show emotion. I don't care if he cried or cussed. This school means a lot to this kid apparently, and he doesn't like losing.

Maybe if our OL played with that kind of passion we could convert a 3rd and 1.

We still can't snap the ball that's a half second we lose every shotgun play.

It's ok. Everyone but coach fanboys were embarassed for the last 7 years by your hero. Go back in your hole.

He looked a lot better yesterday. He wasn't perfect, but he surprised me a number of times.

On the other hand, the offensive line surprised me in a bad way.

Tommy's improvement was stunning to me. He and coach Langsdorf deserve a lot of credit. Quarterback coach.....what a concept. ON the other hand, the O-line technique in pass blocking was horrific. Especially at right guard. This was the problem in the 2nd quarter. Hopefully we can get some improvement here.

the qb position at NU is a pretty big role, so it will be a huge point of focus.
I like armstrongs development as far as passing a lot more then martinez but it's still not a ganz type weapon.
that said.. it seems like armstrong has two mind sets, running and passing, and if he starts running his passing hurts, and vice versa..the key will be if he can switch between the 2 modes more smoothly.
if he can, he can be a great one like gill or frazier. them 2 knew how to really stretch the field and use all their weapons. we have receivers, and backs..if armstrong can figure out how to use them weapons, and his own running skills. I don't think he will be a frazier or gill, cause then guys ran things smoothly right from the start..but if he can get to even a ganz level (that he reached in his senior season). we will have a good season.

Oh good, here comes the "I like the emotion" card. I remember when that is all anyone could talk about on this board because they loved the emotion of the head coach - how did that turn out? If all games were won or lost with emotion, revenge, or bulletin board material everyone would have a winning record.

Why would you be embarrassed? You had zero to do with the blood and guts on the field yet you are embarrassed.

People being "embarrassed" by what college athletes do on a field bugs me more than just about anything in sports. Doubt he'll be back to answer to this one either.

Tommy will be fine.
An upgrade is needed in the FG kicking department.
The LB's will need to get better.

I speak for myself. I liked Bo's emotion too. He just didn't know the appropriate time to show it.

Emotion is part of the sport I like. It's called passion.
