Hope he isn't hurt. But based on his history against Purdue. It might be a good thing. He struggles against them and Illinois for some reason.

jeans I admire your pluck when it comes to looking at the silver lining and TA, but a more accurate sentence would be closer to "He struggles against everyone". He's probably the best QB we have, I don't deny that, but to be brutally honest I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what somebody else can do. TA has had a ton of chances, and I've seen enough to say he just isn't a very good QB. Maybe Fyfe will show us something, it isn't like Tommy is getting any better or leading us to anything, and while I am sorry he got hurt, I am also anxious to see somebody else take a snap.

I was curious about what the back-up QB could do against Texas Tech in 2004. I'm not nearly as curious as I once was.

I remember one time a girl broke up with me in grade school (Renae Sxxxx) broke my heart cause I really thought she was the one, but it didn't keep me from wanting to try the next one on. Yeah, things don't always work out but how does the definition of insanity go..."doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results"...or something like that.

Unless his passes are harder to catch than someone else's I'm not sure the offense is suddenly going to improve with someone else behind center. Most of the games we've lost this year, dropped pass after dropped pass have been a much bigger problem than Tommy's play.

I haven't been following NU as much of late, but didn't our OC/QB coach mentor Eli Manning? I thought for sure this crew was especially known for their player development. With that being said, I'm not going to rule out the QB whisperer and whooping Tommy into shape at a soon to be 70% completion rate.

I will respectfully disagree, a lot. I mean a whole lot.

I'm gonna pass on that invite, we'll just disagree on that item, it happens.

+1 TA has the arm strength, mobility etc to be a very, very good college QB .... unfortunately he is extremely poor at the most important aspect of playing QB and that is decision making at crucial times

he can play very well for 90% of the game but there is always 2-3 plays where he just plain gags and it is those plays that cost us games

QB is the one position where those type of issues can't happen. You can live with a dropped pass, blown assignment etc ... but tommy routinely makes game killing decisions and that hasn't gotten better over the course of his career.

I agree with this completely, and hope that we have more than one QB sign a LOI. I'm only worried that someone else won't be much better until we get this O-Line/Run game figured out. 8 games in and still can't get it going.

Ok........? Based on what?

MMM how about based on the fact that TA has thrown a LOT MORE bad and uncatchable passes that should have been completed passes, then our WR's have dropped passes.

WE had had to take more points off of the board for TA's bad passes, then our drops this year.

You can bet TA has at least 3-6 bad passes per game where they are easy chances and he doesnt throw the ball well. We dont have 3-6 drops each game now do we?

Didnt think so. Thanks for playing.

Yes we do have 3 to 6 drops a game what have you been watching?

Secondly. @litespeedhuskerfan, I do wish that Tommy was more successful. But this isn't the offense for him. And it does piss me off when he makes some of the dumbest decisions. In football, throwing the ball out of bounds sometimes is a great play, and after 3 years he hasn't grasp that yet.

Its frustrating because I'm big fan of the kid's. But, he is just not going to get any better on the decision making part, and as a person that believes in sports IQ's. That's very concerning.

What if I told you...WRs on other teams drop the ball, too. Are we being fair and giving credit for every insane Wester-catch that has been made on an awful ball, too? The drops and the snags on bad balls all come out in the wash.

Kid is about a 55% accurate QB. I believe he'd be an AWESOME option QB, but he's not a great passer. The facts are in.

If Nebraska had a bye this weekend it may come down to the end and be quite interesting.
Seems it comes down to the end no matter what. I do not think it matters who the quarterback is. Or whether our top kick returner (now returning punts only) is out.

Every game will be interesting in the end. But thank god they won't be blowouts.

You mean things like not taking first downs that are there by running for it, throwing absolutely stupid INTs and taking sacks he can't take because he wants to extend the play....yep TA does all those.

Unless we upgrade to an average offensive line we could have Tom Brady back there & it just wouldn't matter! !

After the two intentional groundings against BYU he seems afraid to throw it away

Uh, yeah we do. Pretty easily we average 3-6 drops per game.

It should be made clear, I don't think Tommy is anywhere near a GREAT quarteback. I just think it's funny fans think the dude who's CEMENTED behind him on the depth chart, the dude who is slower and has a weaker arm, is BETTER.

I hope he plays well on Saturday, but this is the most extreme example of "the grass is always greener" I've ever seen out of Husker fans. I remember when the stadium echoed with calls for Frankie London to start at QB, but this is worse.

I don't see anyone claiming Ryker is better than Tommy, I see a lot of "he might not be better but we should at least see what he can do and give tommy a chance to sit out a series or two". Frankly, we should be able to throttle Purdue with whomever we run out there and maybe TA can get healthy and come back a better QB. Who knows, but it looks like he hasn't been himself for a while so I don't see the harm in sitting him out and letting him heal.

What if I asked you... How many balls are dropped by TCU's WRs? Texas Tech? BYU? Memphis?

Of course there are dropped passes on other teams, but in the NW game there were a lot of dropped passes that were easy catches.

**Most games I believe we are solid, but we've had a couple of doozies.
