Was it also a coincidence that many of those players were from Nebraska, a state that doesn't produce more than a couple 4 stars a year?
There was definitely some elite talent like Ahman Green, but a lot of the talent was also imported. Not many Ahman Green types since...

Frost was the year before Green and Crouch came two year after. Hard to imagine Nebraska churning out 5-star players like that, but the state really was loaded at that time.

While Ahman was in a class of his own. Omaha used to produce a lot of good RB’s. It seemed like every year there was someone. Jones, Benning, Childs, Horne. Now how long has it been since a legit RB has come from anywhere instate?
