Gubmint > than private companies, American consumers

Welcome to Trump's America.
As I suspected, Trump is proposing to remove protections afforded social media through government legislation. In other words he’s removing government interference, not adding to it. That’s less government, so I know you’ll be for it.

Funny how both sides have memory loss on prior administrations and how they attempt to single handily control and impact private business.

The courts will ultimately decide if these websites have become state actors or not, and whether or not they are involved in anti-trust activities or are monopolistic.

The law is now, simply stated, that these social media platforms cannot be treated like publishers. Since they have no editorial oversight responsibilities, people who actually post on social media platforms are open to liable suits, but not the owners of the platforms themselves. What Trump is proposing is since some social platforms are operating with editorial oversight, they should be subject to the same liability exposure as any other publishers.

And IMO there is a legitimate argument there for the courts to rule on.

The ACA was legislation passed through Congress and signed into law for god's sake. Do you really need me to explain that basic fact to you? It isn't an EO or King's decree.

Courts have also ruled it unconstitutional in many parts.

If the media platforms weren't so greedy they could ban all political messaging. That might help but it would still be hard to police. In Trump's specific instance, he should consider tweeting true statements but that's crazy too.

We will just include this latest Trump excuse making as yet another example of Trumper's being anti-American, anti--constitution and favoring an Authoritarian government instead of a democracy. Doesn't surprise me in the least. I know you people hate this country and its values.

Do we need to rehash the legality of EO's... their place as "laws"?

You can rest your sensitive heart that any EO Trump would enact regarding social media would be challenged in the courts. But it's good to know that you'd be fine with it if it were to be rammed through Congress.

Moron, you need to read the first amendment again. We all know you don't understand the second and now you don't understand the first. You are so f'ing dumb, it is amazing as I thought you had a clue.

I know you won't educate yourself but it says the government will not pass laws or impede on a citizens right to his free speech. It doesn't govern what a private company will allow in the least. And yes, libel and slandor is real.

Damn, not only anti American but dumber than dirt.

Regardless, this whole thing is nothing more than Trump getting his feelings hurt and putting up a distraction and deflection with his king's decree that scum is not defending. Anything to take attention away from his bungled behavior since Jan leading to over 100K deaths of Americans. It is nothing more than being political.

Ha! You are on a roll my man.

Yeah... libel and slander exist in civil court. They are not criminal offenses. It's snowing outside! Wait.... that's a lie.... oh ****.... that's not free speech... damn... me bad.

And yes... the courts will rule on whether or not any EO enacted by Trump, or any law passed via Congress, meet constitutional burdens.

More disgrace. A President attempting to single handedly rule private companies and Trumpers will cheer this authoritarian act. They have no shame, no American qualities, no values. All they have is loyalty to a con man.
Ugh...your soy boy Barry, gave the internet rights to the UN...REMEMBER?!!!
Silly-con valley weaponized the 2016 election for killary, with RUSSIAN BOTS on FACEBOOK to influence the vote for the queen of the damned.

I don’t think the EO will fly. But I don’t doubt they can drag it out until November elections.
Its all about leverage IMO. Put them on notice that he can apply pressure to get "fair treatment". You know half the stuff he does is just to take attention away from other things.

Agreed. This is nothing more than today's distraction based on Trump getting his feelings hurt and acting like a King.

I question how much is actually sincerely thin skinned and how much is just enjoyment of the game. I think he loves the game. I know when I was in sales I sure did.

I get the feeling this was a move he was planning on making eventually. He just needed the right set up.

You being in sales and pulling other's chains doesn't have the ramifications of the President acting childish and not upholding his Constitutional Oath. But I don't dispute your line of thinking in this comment at all.

There no thrill like pushing a reluctant customer to make a sales decision to BUY!

Was that before or after Twitter, Facebook, Google et all began censoring or de-platforming Conservative voices?

My thought was, “They’re going to buy from someone. Why not me?” I made it less about the product, and more about getting them to buy from me.

Good strategy. Not sure what you were selling but for me it's transportation solutions. I make my personal connection to them as I listen eagerly to them express their desires then introduce my products and my concern for finding them the exact solution to their expressed desires to me. Once I make an emotional connection to their desires, and offer my level best to get them the right solution at the best possible price that fits their budget, the product sells itself.
