Where's the link?

Also, I first thought the subject of this thread was Anthony Bennett, the former #1 pick out of UNLV. But, I'm guessing this is regarding UVA's Bennett?

I've been hoping for years that he ends up going to Wisconsin, he grew up there and is a UW-Green Bay alum. However, given his success and obviously the most recent national title, I don't see that happening any time soon. Now this happens, and seems like he will be at UVA for the long haul.

Feel like when a college coach wins a national title, NBA rumors start. Billy Donovan, Jay Wright, Kevin Ollie etc. all won a title and then their names get thrown out.
Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything. Makes sense, Bennett's style doesn't translate to the pro game, at all.

When the time comes (hopefully 20 years from now), I'm cool with Duke giving Bennett a look. Definitely wouldn't be one of my top choices though, not a fan of his style. Also, not sure top recruits are a fan of his style either. It works at UVA because they aren't ever gonna land the elites, not sure it would work here.

I don't think Tony Bennett with leave UVA for the same reason Coach K did not leave Duke but I would take him. OFC

Bennett showing the class that diffentiates the good coaches from the great. He wont leave UVA I suspect because he has all he needs there and is very happy. The extra money is irrelevant as he already probably has enough and still will be paid well the next 10+ years he coaches. Dedication and unselfishness like this are a rare breed in all sports.

any idea how much he makes at UVA?

I think the article says $4.5M a year salary, with a $1M bonus for loyalty this year. This does not include any media shows or shoe money etc. Add in camps and speaking....he does quite well already!

The only thing about Bennett coming to Duke is would this board embrace him? I've said this before but he reminds a little of Coach K in the early years at Duke. Bennett doesn't get the best players in the country but he gets everything possible of the players that comes to UVA. He is big on defense and fundementals. No I don't think there is a chance he ever comes to Duke. UVA is Bennett just like Duke is Coach K. I believe Bennett will win more titles. It won't be long until unc cheater u fans are gonna despite and hate, yes I said hate Tony and UVA just as much as that despise and hate Coach K and Duke. They can't help it. They are unc cheater u fans . It's their nature. Most of you weren't around when they despised and hated Norman Sloan and NCSU and Lefty Driesel and Md. and Frank McQuire (who by the way was once one of their own ) and South Carolina simply for the reason they like Duke and Coach K had the nerve to come in and beat dean smith and unc cheater u on an consistant basis. They are the biggest cry baby fan base around and that includes UK. OFC

It’s amazing the difference in the two boards. Here, Bennett is getting a lot of love. This same thread is going on at RR, and there are many people trying to turn it into a negative....and then arguing amongst themselves about Cal taking raises and putting the players before the university....what a miserable life it must be to be a part of that fan base!!!

Where is Cal on your list? ;)

With such great fans like yourself why would Cal belittle himself and go to a school like Duke. That's like Coach K going from Duke to Elon. Look at what Cal did for programs like UMass , Memphis and the Dominican Republic national team. Just think about that. Here he is a great American and he has enough compassion for the Dominican Republic to realize they need him and how he could serve there and improve The United States relations with the citizens of the Dominican Republic. It takes a special kind of man to do that. The great University of Kentucky have always had the ability to hire such great coaches with high integrity, high character and standards. Coaches such as Eddie Sutton, Rick Pitino, Billy Gillespie and now John Calapari who has since he came to Kentucky has inserted in himself all of those great qualities mentioned above. No Cal is not one of my candidates my friend simply because he is the the of Coach that UK deserve. Dukeep fans could never appreciate and embrace him the way UK fans have and he's smart enough to know that. He will never leave UK and Duke nation knows that . With that said when Coach K does retire those who make the decision as to who the next Duke coach will be I'm going out on a limb and say Cal will be the furtherist coach from their mind. Hope this clears it up for you as far as my choices for the next Duke couch is. ;);););):D OFC

I’m almost certain his style would change a lot if he was gettin the elites like Duke. I saw it a little with last years team.which had 1 elite and some good players. Orrrr worst case (for y’all) is he recruits the same kinda guys that won it all last year and keeps his “boring” style. Ive grown watching his style. I like it. Winning is all I care about.

I watch every Duke game of course. After that, UVA is the team I’ve watched the most these last few years.
They’ve got a good thing going. The whole them being boring narrative should pretty much be over now that they have a title.
