If you need a last minute Father’s Day gift for your Dad/Son, my dad was thrilled to just get from me a gift certificate to the theater “for Top Gun.” He’s the type who would say to himself “I should go see that”, but not actually go buy a ticket. He’s heard how good it is so he’s really excited.

Happy Father’s Day to all you dad’s out there!

Bought this last weekend on itunes and loved it more than I thought I would. I enjoyed how straight forward it was. Just a teach a crew/do a mission movie. That's all you need sometimes. I liked a lot of the Marvel movies but they are so convoluted and bloated. Nothing wrong with simple and straight forward. Fury Road was like that as well.

It's also cute that people thought Nolan was going to save theaters with Tenant and it ended up being Tom Cruise, who for a moment, did save theaters.

Would’ve been nice to have had Tom Skerritt (aka Viper) a scene or two as well.

I just saw it the other day. It was national cinema day and they were doing $3 movie tickets all day and we went and saw Beast and Maverick. We really enjoyed it. Tom Cruise is definitely a nut with the stunts he does. Dangling outside the Burj Khalifa, strapping himself to the outside of an airplane that's flying, and even riding in the back of an F-18 doing all those aerial stunts.

I told my wife they had a bunch of shoutouts to the original including the 2 that you mentioned. There was "you shake my nerves and you rattled my brain." Porshe was the featured car and Maverick again rode a Ninja while a jet is taking off next to him. The pilots in the bar not realizing who Maverick was until he showed up to train them the next day and they realized they made a mistake with what they did to him. The flying inverted but without him giving "the bird." Probably more that I can't think of offhand.

By the way, Cruise actually can fly planes/jets. Here's a funny video of him taking a late night TV host flying with him.
