They (BC) had the best defense that Louisville faced last year. Better than Clemson & FSU. But their offense was likely the worst. If PT can elevate them a notch on offense, and they can somehow maintain that great defense (they lost their DC, though), they can become a dangerous under-the-radar squad that nobody will want to play.

Wish the best for him. I hope the light comes on and he plays his best football. Loved to see BC and us both beat UOFL

Great news for a great kid. I don't think Boston College was the best place to go for his particular weaknesses, but heres hoping for the best.

The BC coach, Steve Addazio, was an OC at Florida under Urban. Last year, they were without a decent QB after West went down. Now, with West back and Towles, they should be much, much better on offense. They will be a dangerous team this year, and Towles will have a great opportunity under a really good offensive minded head coach.

I know their offensive line absolutely sucked last year. Maybe they're expecting major growth at that unit...I think Towles will need it.

Good article on Patrick in the Globe. Hadn't seen it posted already.

Good piece, thanks for the link. Two parts stood out a little.

First: “You could see the writing on the wall,” Towles said. “I just felt like I wasn’t meant to be there for my fifth season. My teammates were incredible. I was given every opportunity to succeed — I’m not going to say that I didn’t — but I wasn’t, for one reason or another."

Pretty mature words - cool that this 22 year old refuses to blame others. I was given every opportunity, and it just didn't work out. Plenty of 50 year olds that could learn something from that.

Second: "Even before the 2015 season started, Towles’s father, Terry, could sense something unsettling about his son. It was a father’s intuition. “I could just kind of tell,” Terry Towles said. “Just watching some things on the field and just seeing it’s just something — whatever it was — something wasn’t there."

My guess is the dysfunction that became very evident later on to everyone was surfacing "before the season started." No surprise there....
