I'm happy for him, very deserving, yet I hate it at the same time....because I'm selfish & would love to see him in a UK uniform for 1 more season.

I think he's going #1 overall. It would be one thing if Okafor was significantly bigger and more athletic, but he's not. The only thing Okafor has right now is a more developed post game (and Towns has made huge, huge strides in that area), and strength (and it's not like Towns is small, he just doesn't have as mature a body as Okafor- something that could change with age/training).

I saw someone compare Okafor to a great running back in football- something that can be incredibly useful, but not necessarily something that the best teams in the league actually need, due to changes in how the game is played. Towns does so many things better than Okafor that I think the majority of teams aren't going to be able to pass it up. And that's not even counting Towns' spot-up shooting ability, something UK hasn't utilized, but something a lot of NBA teams are going to drool over. Towns is going to do some workouts for NBA teams and just nail jumpshots, and that will cement him at #1 overall.

I was a little skeptical about Towns, as I doubted whether he had the explosive athletic ability to be a star. His work ethic and attitude have blown away all doubts.

I could be wrong., I was, once a few years ago, but I don't think Booker will go.

I don't think he is at the 12th position in the draft either.

I hope you are right, would love to see him back. I don't see how though if he is number 12

How is Goodman suddenly a worthy reference for future draft projections?

Some claim Cal can't coach, but just look at how Towns has improved over the course of the season. Part of that is his work ethic, but part of is certainly Cal and his staff. I'm pretty sure I read/heard Towns had aspirations of becoming a doctor. At one point I thought maybe he'd come back. I think he's going to have to put that dream off awhile. Booker, Lyles, and Ulis I'm still thinking might come back. At least a couple of them.

I am not sure how much stock I put into any mock drafts, especially when it is a schmuck like Goodman. That being said, I would not be the least bit surprised to see KAT go over Okafor. Okafor has the offensive game, but his defense is abysmal, often looking lost. At the next level, teams are willing to work with a player offensively, but they have zero patience for defensive lapses, especially bigs who are projected as rim protectors. If a player can defend, rebound and swat shots, there is always a place. Besides, do we honestly believe Okafor is going to be able to chicken wing his way around the bigs in the NBA?

Many have compared him favorably to Klay Thompson. I can't disagree with that. Look at Thompson's freshman numbers at Washington State compared to Booker's adjusted.

Also, if you take a look at the available prospects for 2015, Devin may be the best pure shooting guard available. Depending on how you view their positional roles, his competition is D'Angelo Russell and Hezonja from Europe.

He'll also still only be 18 by time the next NBA season starts. There are riskier picks than Booker in the lottery, and the upside is huge.

Like a number of you posters have said,Okafor has the better low post game but Karl has so much upside. He can step out and hit the jumper and even shoot the three. His defense and shot blocking ability is way ahead of Okafor. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he were chosen first in the draft.

I'm really shocked to see Aaron left out of the first round. I understand Andrew, nut Aaron seems like a guy who will be in the league for 12+ years because of his outside and mid-range game.

He's a position bigger, a true C, not a PF. And he has better footwork than Sullinger had (imho... not like I'm a scout or anything). Okafor reminds me a bit of Al Jefferson. I think Okafor has a bit more size and moves better (ceiling on D is higher than Jefferson, which isn't saying much).

Only a homer would be shocked to see Aaron left out of first round. A shooter has to be able to hit, and that's his trouble. Not known for defense, passing, rebounding etc. Hopefully after we win NCAA, the Harrisons' stock will rise enough to make them late first or early second round picks. If that's the case they definitely need to take it.

this. pretty good take. players like aaron that shoot 37% from 3 are a dime adozen in the nba. he can somewhat create his own shot if need be and that's a plus for him but hes not in the top 50% of SGs in terms of athleticism, speed, or quickness. he will be lucky to go 1st round same with his brother. they would both gain by staying another year. booker, towns, lyles, WCS, and possibly dakari are all gone for sure after this year.
