Towns vs Okafor

Towns has a much better skill set. He does it all and has more potential. Uses either hand around basket, shoots face up, passes well, defends and is coachable. Would love to see him be the franchise player knicks build around for years to come. Cieling is a tim duncan type.

Okafor is stronger and will be a beast but towns has more upside. Could see okafor being an elton brand type player and nothing wrong with that. He will be a starter.early in career as well and if his work ethic is high enough he will reach perinneal all star level. Lakers would do well to get him to build around with randle.

Early, Okafor was clearly better than Towns. Now Towns is clearly better than Okafor.

Towns development has been incredible. By contrast, Okafor really hasnt progressed at all. Once again, Cal proved he is far and away the best at developing elite talent.

Karl is the #1 pick if things keep going the way they are. Not to mention, where Karl's going to make himself the #1 pick is in team workouts. What's Okafor going to do in a workout that he hasn't shown already? I'm guessing not much, but I could be wrong. KAT, on the other hand, plays 20-some minutes a game in an offense that doesn't center on him. He's going to blow minds when working out for the teams with the top picks.

Okafor is a good offensive player but is very soft on defense. If UK and Duke meet Towns will own Okafor.

Yea but everyone and their mothers are trying to double Okafor which is why it's critical he read the double and find the open guy. No one has consistently stopped him in a one vs one scenario.

I think Okafor is easier to double than Towns. Towns is a much better passer. Towns defense is miles better than Okafor. Towns is great on the freethrow line. Late in the game, K better get Okafor out. His freethrow shooting is awful. I kept hollering at Roy last night to hack Okafor.

Towns can do everything Okafor can do plus he is way better at the foul line. He can play in the post plus hit the J. Better defender. Okafor is what you see is what you get. Big man down low and that is it. Towns maybe the next Tim Duncan IMO. What you think?

I do think Towns brings more to the table though. His ability to square up and shoot from 15+ is fantastic. His defense is better. He is longer. His passing is better. Overall, I do believe his upside is better.

I also think that Okafor will be one of those guys who's game translates better in the NBA (e.g. Randle). Without so many double teams and a more open lane, he will use his quickness more effectively.

Either way, you are going to get a stud. No doubt about it.

According to the scouts, Towns is the one with superior athleticism. Okafor's offensive game translates better to the NBA, but as it stands, he's going to get dominated on the defensive end most of the time. That's what puts Towns into consideration for the #1 prospect. He has a lot of offensive productivity, despite being somewhat raw as compared to Demarcus Cousins, or other highly skilled NBA bigs. He already plays elite level defense at the college level, and he's an intelligent defender. which really puts him on notice for the top pick. Scouts and GM's know that he'll grow more, and his lower body strength will grow to match his upper body in time. Add that to how much he's progressed this season, how much more he can learn in the post, and how well he can shoot jumpers, pass, and dribble now, Towns seems like the more intriguing prospect.

My fear is..... If they played head to head.....KAT has shown a propensity to get in foul trouble...I know Okafor isnt very good on the defensive end but Kat would need to be careful not to get 2 quick ones

Towns is a more complete player with more potential. Okafor is what you see, very good with his back to the basket...but that's it. Can't pick and pop, have to bench him at the end because he's atrocious from the foul line and will struggle to guard grown men in the NBA.

Towns will explode on the league IMO. May get into foul trouble because he's too aggressive, but he can be a 20 and 10 + a night guy that can dominate a game at both ends. Runs the court so much better than Okafor.

Even the ESPN talking heads are coming around to that inevitability. Towns > Okafor

I don't think you have to worry about Okafor having 2 guys on him on defense. With our frontcourt, no reason at all to double team him. We are one of the only teams in the country that can play Okafor straight up and between Towns and Wcs, i think Okafor is going to struggle just a lil. Don't get me wrong, he is still going to get his. He will probably end up with 15+ points and 6 rebounds. It will be interesting to see what Okafor does when matched up with Towns and his frame.With the way Towns has been improving on D, i'm actually not too worried about Okafor. Most think Towns does so well on D cause of Wcs being in the paint with him and they are wrong. Most of the time Wcs is out of the paint guarding smaller guys. Towns is a better low post shot blocker than Wcs. Maybe not overall defender, but in the paint, sure.

Okafor has better athleticism than Towns? That's just a terrible statement. Okafor is in the middle between Towns and Dakari when it comes to athleticism.

This board just cracks me up some times. Towns does every single thing better than Okafor except score on the box. Towns is way more polished than Cousins was at this stage. Have you guys even seen the Video where Towns outshoots Wiggins from 30 FEET..KAT made five in a row like it was nothing. He's so much like Dirk Nowitski except he's a better athlete and shot blocker. He's not a center at the next level, he's a 4. Just like AD but not quite as athletic. I'm hoping he goes #1 to the Sixers and plays next to Noel.

Me its 100% towns. You can't expect Okafor to guard like towns can. You also can not have Okafor in there with his foul shooting.

Evidently, you don't watch UK games.... They double Towns down low every time now, and he makes great passes to teammates... I know you're a Duke fan, but you can't just come here and tell us that Town doesn't get doubled... He especially draws double teams now.... Watch a game....
