It seems obvious that the traffic on this site is no where near what it was in the last days of the old. Does anyone know the reason(s)? Did that many users of the old platform just not come along or is it something else?

Yeah I didn’t really notice a whole lot of difference in traffic. Maybe slightly less but like Thurman said there’s just nothing really going on right now.

The site not being free at first probably kept a lot of users off. I bet we get some of the former members back in here when the folkstyle season starts.

International wrestling is cool, better than no wrestling, but it is significantly harder to follow and be engaged when its 1 or 2 athletes at a time, streaming is variable, start times are in the middle of the night, etc.

It's our most active forum currently as measured by users and views. We didn't have that information available on the old rivals system, so idk if that's a new thing or just something I never knew.

A lot of people come here every day. It's an extra slow time for college/amateur wrestling and still yet there's a lot of traffic. That doesn't translate to much income, but is still pretty cool to me that this has to be among the top destinations on the internet for people to discuss wrestling

I check in from time to time and get caught up. Definitely haven't been very active at all on here. Life is just crazy busy for me and my family right now. Hoping things slow down come the season.

So more people are on 34 & counting than talking football in the corral? Hard to believe

That’s wild actually. I’m oddly proud of it.

I don't believe Harley has posted since the transition. I miss his take on the state of OK State wrestling and whether or not we are "jumping levels".
Thanks Oberebo,, I like you also. I am one of the anonymous people on this forum. I could not get Harley Cowboy as my forum name. My view is last year we jumped a level as a team and I hope we jump another level this year, but I question if we will. Now the next year I am almost certain that we will jump a level or 2 because our 25 and 26 recruiting classes are almost can't miss classes. However, I have a history of overrating our top recruiting classes like the 2023 recruiting class. I was excited about seeing Thompson, Carrol, and Hughes. So far it has been disappointing. My hope is the new staff develops these classes and assessed the recruits better and therefore we have much better results. I am a strong proponent in a few years that we are able to change the Forum name to 35 and counting.

Good to see you back Harley. Weird that some people can't get their old name back

Lots of new faces for this next season. We're used to that. I'm excited for DT Year Two.

Carroll will be at his third college in three years and hasn't wrestled a full season yet... we'll see. Could be a force or could fizzle out.
Stay tuned. My understanding is both Thompson and Hughes are looking really good - weight close and they will be in competition for a starting position this fall.
Heck yeah let's go! Both are monster athletes, I'd love to see them put all the pieces together. I'm sure they would too!

Maybe cause after the promise to change the title nothing has happened making it seem like the previous talk that no one had authority to do it was just a bad excuse. What's wrong with Gallagher or if we need to go with a number maybe '34 of 54' then we get to recognize the new D1 titles. It really should be something simple like Gallagher Hall that doesn't need to be changed.

I truly feel that the name of this forum, "34 and Counting", is just pointing out the failure of the wrestling program for the past twenty years. It needs to be changed so that our team and the new guard coaches can build the future without the stigma associated with that moniker. It is a new day in Stillwater for the coaches and team and the future is bright ORANGE!
I am for any slogan that does not refer to the past but rather to our bright future.

Maybe we just copy our RTCs new name. Pokes Wrestling Club

or heck just “Cowboy Wrestling Discussion”. It doesn’t have to be some catchy name.

though I don’t get a “this is a failure” vibe from the 34 and Counting name. It’s bragging rights nobody else has. And, in the last twenty years only a couple other teams have won the nattys.

It’s unresolved and will go on until it’s resolved.

Probably smart to keep it the same for a bit though to allow previous posters to find us once the folk style season starts.

should at least capitalize it though. 34 And Counting. Not “34 and counting”
