[Trailer 2] Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Film critics are the most miserable and insufferable people. Anything that's just simple fun is frowned upon by them. Anything that's woke BS gets high praise. Not to mention, a lot of them are bought and paid for by certain studios.

These are some of the negative RT reviews. Who would want to hang out and watch a movie with these people?

The worst I’ve ever seen was when I watching ‘at the movies’ after Ebert and Roeper left. They did an episode about ‘what movies made you want to become a critic?’

Christy Lemieres was something like ‘grease’, ‘Star Wars’, and ‘the wizard of ox’

The other guy was like ‘well the first movie on My list is a French film. The only place you can see it is in a small cafe in Paris. It’s only shown 3 times a year and only 4 people are allowed in at once’

Just glancing at rotten tomatoes, most of the bad reviews seem to be complaining about ‘fan service’. I mean if you watched the trailers and didn’t expect ‘fan service’ that’s a you problem

Imagine being upset about a film franchise referencing earlier beloved films in their sequel and their attempt to try and entertain their audience which are Ghostbusters fans?

"Can't believe they brought up the 1984 film instead of focusing on a marshmallow of color fighting climate change."

Yeah, I know those types. I used to encounter them when I was in my early 20s. A dead giveaway something pretentious is coming is a reference to Akira Kurosawa. They look down upon anything that's entertaining and just simple and instead use film in an attempt to feel superior to someone. It's super weird but people do this with music, wine, and a number of stupid things to be a snob about.

It's also indicative in what the Academy chooses to award. Oh, there's a summer movie that made a bajillion dollars and everyone loved it and bought the DVD? No thanks, commoner. We'll opt for the foreign film about the handicapped Holocaust survivor poet with AIDS who teaches poetry to gangbangers that was only seen by 17 people and made $240 at the box office."

Before you watch the new Ghostbusters, think back about you felt about The Force Awakens. Same thing. Remember everything you loved about the original? Here it is again but with different people. Worth the time to go see it but not an amazing film or anything.

Saw it tonight. Loved the movie. Had a blast. Lots of nostalgia.

It goes overboard in this movie though.

The movie is okay. Better than 2016. The opening scene is the best part of the movie. Gets worse from there. The "surprise" ending sucks and is unnecessary

I liked it. Wasn't great but was fun to watch. Brought back memories from my youth seeing the originals. The only criticism I really have is it lacked originality. It is basically the original Ghostbusters reskinned with some small changes. I would have brought in the next generation cast having the torch handed off to them like they did with a totally different storyline.

Get rid of all of this below and bring in a new story with new characters.

It's also kinda strange that the most successful original Ghostbuster was the least qualified one that only took the job because he was out of work and needed the money. Then he turns into some wealthy businessman while the others didn't really do anything better with their lives. I would have used that fame to become well off.

I don't consider it a re-do of the movie. I do like the comparison though of Force Awakens to New Hope. But you saw no family aspect or backstory or really much of a character dive in to the original Ghostbusters and that was fine. Didn't really need it.

But this was definitely filled with nods and bits of nostalgia, which I loved and I feel were necessary to propel the new cast into their own journey. It's a passing the torch type movie where a sequel would have more unique aspects and new villains.

I do want to say that I loved the humor. I thought Phoebe and Podcast were hilarious and Paul Rudd delivered as expected.

I just think one movie with Gozar, the Gatekeeper, and the Key Master was enough. Everything was so predictable because of that. I knew what was going to happen in 90% of the movie because of that. The Ghostbusters originally mentioned a bunch of past paranormal events in the first movie. They could have played off of one of those ideas. Instead it basically just feels more like a reboot and less like a sequel and I'm fine with that. I just think they could have put in more work and made it better than that.

I saw it last night and as a movie it was OK. As a sequel to Ghostbusters I didn't like it. The original was a comedy at heart. This was closer to Harry Potter than Ghostbusters.
