Also:

IIRC he has trained with Nagao.

Luckily for us, he lives outside @johnstownsteel's recruiting territory. (Sorry, couldn't resist!)
Yes, he trained with Nagao, who went to the same HS. He wrestled at 120 this year compared to 113 his freshman year. He definitely is more muscular now, but he didn't look particularly big at 120. He still has two more years of HS left, so it will be interesting to see what his weight is approaching college. In the California state Finals this year he lost his first HS match ever against senior and Oklahoma State commit Rocklin Zinkin. Zinkin beat Sanchez 5-2. Sanchez was about a second from getting the tying TD and potential backs as time expired. Zinkin ended his high school career as a 3-time California state champion and 4-time finalist, which is a phenomenal accomplishment in one classification California. Zinkin wrestled 120 his last two seasons and looks really large for the weight. My guess is he cut a lot of weight to stay at 120 and Sanchez wasn't interested in cutting weight to stay at 113. Kudos to them both for not dodging each other.

Teske trained him for awhile after college when he moved out west. He's now back in Iowa and has a club

Just throwing out there that PSU recruit Sidun beat Zinkin twice recently including a major at WNO. This isn’t throwing shade at Sanchez. I think he is special and really hope he ends up at PSU

Agreed. He is truly special. Reminds me a bit of Ed Ruth. Not necessarily the way they wrestle but more about the way they move. Both guys are so smooth and kind of float around the mat. James doesn’t seem quick like Miller or physical like PJ but he absolutely is. It just looks different for some reason. He definitely has the frame to put on some good weight. I think 184/197 could be in the cards during the back half of his career
A 197 with his technical ability would be formidable!

Wow. I just noticed I have posted five times (I mean six!) in a row in this thread. I might be coming down with something. I have heard there is a nasty virus going around that causes wrestling fans to post repeatedly. I think it is called MSU158.

Yeah, what was his injury? He walked around the arena during the finals, must have been an upper injury, all the way up.

I did see Angelo dragging his leg when he walked, and didn't jump off the stage after Iowa got its 4th place trophy. I think his injury is legit.

Generally wrestling for Iowa involves being injured in March.

Will never forget Kemmerer looking Dr. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce was his doctor.

Your proprioception is exceptional in this area.

I would be very shocked if Aden Valencia left Stanford. He's from Silicon Valley and is obvoiusly there for the degree in addition to wrestling, which he isn't going to get after 2 years. Every Stanford transfer for the most part finished their degree there, the exception being Joey McKenna.

In terms of the bag, Willie has mentioned the family is extremely wealthy already and wouldn't be moved by it.

Whoever started the Valencia rumors made it up and it has zero legs. Wrestling X has become a bunch of people guessing so when they're right people think the actually know something. I haven't logged into my X in 2 years so I don't see it but people send me messages all the time and wrestling X is a joke

For Stanford, I can see 3 kids moving on: Provo, Garvin, Cardenas. Key is look for kids who have been there at least 4 years, they likely could have graduated and if anything, might have to move on if they can't find a compatible graduate program. Shane Griffith basically said that's why he left Stanford, his exact words (being the Stanford grad that he is) was "I expunged all my academic options at Stanford"

Knox, Norman have been there for three and I guess could graduate in December or maybe they'll graduate in 3 years but that would be insanely quick.

A few goats?

You may be right. He has a higher ceiling. Isn’t James two years younger than Bo?

Jayden will turn 18 in June per USA Wrestling. Bo will turn 20 in August per the internet, but interestingly, I could not find his age listed in any USA Wrestling articles or sources.

I don't particularly like Angelo's style, but he is one heck of a wrestler, and I wish he had a coach who would open up his offense. I also don't see him faking an injury or defaulting when not hurt ... that just doesn't seem like his mentality.

Now, AJ is another story. His biggest injury is between his ears, and it's not gonna heal.
