30th portal And the 81st recruiting class. I’d say 4 to 6 wins if we catch lightning30th as of today
Does that include the long snapper we picked up?30th as of today

Often when someone commits to Nebraska their rating would go up. Not because they deserved it necessarily but because Nebraska has a lot of recruiting news customers who buy good news if it's for sale. I remember watching fans campaign to the raters for someone to "get their 4th star" and then when they did it was like "yay we are going to be good now". If you can find the original rankings before the bump they are usually more accurate.Don’t care about rankings anymore: they mean nothing when It comes to Nebraska. Nebraska for years had better recruiting rankings than the teams they continue to lose too.
I disagree, it usually appeared that players would drop in the ratings after committing to Nebraska, especially the last 7-10 yearsOften when someone commits to Nebraska their rating would go up. Exactly. Nebraska had a better transfer portal class than Indiana last year.Don’t care about rankings anymore: they mean nothing when It comes to Nebraska. Nebraska for years had better recruiting rankings than the teams they continue to lose too.
I'd say its a combo of both. I've been to practices. Our dudes don't match Indiana's dudes. And neither do our coaches...especially the top dog.Exactly. Nebraska had a better transfer portal class than Indiana last year.
It’s not the talent that is the problem, per se. It’s the coaching.
Maybe the second greatest conman of all time?????I know its become fashionable to call out Rhule, but the level of his con man abilities is an extremely high level, the week of the big USC game this guy steered the conversation to the PSU opening as if he was a legit candidate and got much of the fanbase worried about him leaving before the tough part of our schedule was played and he was exposed.
He leveraged this to get himself a contract extension that now holds the football program hostage and in no way deserved. He sold it by saying we now have financial commitment to go out in the portal and compete with anyone. Look at the top 100 players in portal we have none and I dont know if even a top 100 visited, thats ridiculous when you basically punt on this recruiting class saying you were going big in the portal.

Jeez some of you people are dense..We had a very young team was the reason why we didn’t have a lot of recruits was the reason why the ranking was so low.30th portal And the 81st recruiting class. I’d say 4 to 6 wins if we catch lightning
And talent evaluation.Exactly. Nebraska had a better transfer portal class than Indiana last year.

So last week when NU's portal class was 12th nationally and 3rd in the B1G you were too busy with Kirk's reach-around to comment. Glad you took a break and dropped in.30th portal And the 81st recruiting class. I’d say 4 to 6 wins if we catch lightning
I believe our RB recruit dropped dramatically after he committed to us. That Miami offer meant nothing I guess.I disagree, it usually appeared that players would drop in the ratings after committing to Nebraska, especially the last 7-10 years
FWIW Cignetti was coaching at Bama when they had multiple guys test positive for PEDs after their championship game..I'd say its a combo of both. I've been to practices. Our dudes don't match Indiana's dudes. And neither do our coaches...especially the top dog.
The number of high school recruits in your class is WAY over valued in the rankings. Has been for years.Jeez some of you people are dense..We had a very young team was the reason why we didn’t have a lot of recruits was the reason why the ranking was so low.
Get a clue.
Ohh it’s douche bag back again.
What’s the ranking of our coaching staff out of a 136 FBS teams?
Getting a good class in is half the battleSo just to confirm, when Nebraska has a class that ranks 15th in the recruiting rankings, the rankings don't mean anything. When Nebraska ranks 80th in the rankings, the rankings are gospel and are a true indicator of a recruits potential?
Just making sure I am getting the narrative.
Agreed! The good news is we've actually improved on that somewhat.Stop.losing to teams with worse rankings would be an improvement.
Ummmmmmm…….how’s it worked out? We’re a top 25 class before players leave which we averaged 38th. Is it wrong? You are reaching here. None of that was in my post.Getting a good class in is half the battle
.
developing them is the other half.
we’ve been losing half the battle. Looks like we are now losing both. Sorry man. I know you’re high on Rhule and trust him but this isn’t a good look.
It is very possible to ruin good players with bad coaching, it is impossible to win with bad players and good coaches. Rhule needs top classes to have any chance because his coaching staff is ***, and has been. Having bad classes and *** coaching is a recipe for bad seasons. He has made some changes, we'll see how the oline and DC fares. Our schedule doesn't leave a lot of room for improvement record wise though, even if we hit homeruns in the coaching department and NIL we won't probably win more than 6.So just to confirm, when Nebraska has a class that ranks 15th in the recruiting rankings, the rankings don't mean anything. Dude, at what point does the schtick get old for you? It is one thing if people didn't know you are a fan of another team, and they just think you are ill informed, but quite another when everyone is on to this charade and you continue. I bet it was funny at the beginning when you were telling people what you were doing. You both got a laugh, but now it is really just pathetic and a little sad. I hope you get the help you need.Ummmmmmm…….how’s it worked out? We’re a top 25 class before players leave which we averaged 38th. Is it wrong? It’s been 26 years and counting
read the post above. It is very possible to ruin good players with bad coaching, it is impossible to win with bad players and good coaches. Record against teams finished .500 or better
Pelini (4 years) 18-15
Riley (3 years) 7-16
Frost (5 years) 5-28
Rhule (3 years) 7-14
Record against teams that did not go bowling:
Pelini 15-2
Riley 12-3
Frost 13-10
Rhule 11-5
Nebraska has slowly gone back to "beating the teams we should beat" in the sense that we should expect our team to almost almost always beat a team that doesn't go bowling.
Now, our record against winning teams is horrible. But for us being a middle of the pack low end bowl eligible team, going 11-5 against teams that don't go bowling is an improvement from the barely .500 results we had from the previous coaching staff.
I think you’re reaching. You are reaching here. None of that was in my post.
It is just simple confirmation bias. My post had nothing to do with development. It was simply based on comments from people on this forum. Ratings don't mean anything.........until it confirms my opinion on how this staff isn't bringing in the players I want them to from the portal, then ratings matter. It goes both ways.
Like for 20 years straight.Don’t care about rankings anymore: they mean nothing when It comes to Nebraska. Nebraska for years had better recruiting rankings than the teams they continue to lose too.
ThisI disagree, it usually appeared that players would drop in the ratings after committing to Nebraska, especially the last 7-10 years
I could but I’ve specifically been focusing on stats and records since our time in the B1G to at least have some consistency. The Big 12 days are drastically different from the Big 10 days. Heck, Pelini time in the Big 10 is drastically different from today in the Big 10. But 1 thing has held true since Osborne (maybe Solich as well if you want to be generous), Nebraska is not a premier program nor is it a respected program.I think you should include Callahan and Solich as well. It would be interesting to see where we've been since Osborne.
You have it backwards, I do believe ratings matter. I tend to look at individual player ratings and not overall team rankings. First of all, not every team has the same needs, be it numbers in the class, numbers at positions that have a disproportionate number of players in the top 250 etc. There are teams ranked highly that are there simply based on the number of recruits vs the ability of the recruit.I think you’re reaching.
saying rankings don’t matter is a foolish way to kid yourself into thinking things are better than what they are. It’s how losers talk. But you be you.
